If anything, since joining this forum I've been more conscious of my driving habits. My last tank yielded an almost 32 MPG (31.6) run. Not bad for a full-size Buick LeSabre. The trip was mostly highway, however I got caught in a few construction zone jams along the way which slowed me down to a stop-and-go crawl which easily added 20 minutes to the trip.
I tried to go 65 MPH on the way there, but set the cruise at 75 MPH on the way back for scheduling purposes. Even so, not a bad show for a regular car!
BTW: How do you get your combined mileag state to show up in your signature? Thanks in advance!
Kevin
Hi Kevin:
___You have a good start and thank you for not giving up on that monster …
___For the sig, you need to create your car in the Mileage Logs and then start adding tanks. After your first tank is entered, you have an image. Setup your sig and import it. Voila, done. I know it is a little harder then that right off the bat but let us start by getting your first tanks in.
___Start here and if you have any problems, let us know …
Add New Vehicle (http://www.cleanmpg.com/index.php?page=garagenew)
___Good Luck

Thanks! - I had three tanks in the log already, just noted the "insert image" in the control panel.
Hi Kevin:
___118% of EPA combined … Not a bad start if I do say so myself :D
___Good Luck

Sounds like it's time to have a chat about freeway speeds! :D Prior to seeing the light I drove 75mph, too. Having seen what a difference it makes, I start to twitch at anything over 60, barring a New England down-hill FAS, of course. :Banane49:
Ha...there is a bananna for that!

You should see 35 mpg pretty easy in your Buick. I had a 92 Olds Delta 88. The 3800 V6 in it was a nice engine. With the Alum. hood, plastic fenders and ubber thin windsheild it was on the light side for such a massive beast.
The tranny in it remind's me alot of our 05 Accord. A tatic I used with the Olds was to get it moving then slowly let out of the gas and it would drop into the highist gear at about 35 mph. The CC was not advanced at all in our Olds. So use of the CC ruined mpg. The car also coasted very well.

I have a '92 Grand Prix and I like the tranny too. I have tried coasting in gear and neutral and could see no significant difference in how far it coasts. On a trip from St. Louis, MO to Elkhart, IN I averaged just a tad under 35 mpg; 34.8 I think. Half of the trip was at 70mph and the last half was at 55-60. The car has the 3.1 V-6.

35 MPG is great goal. I think it's attainable with the LeSabre. Yes, the tranny does coast very well and at 0.33 cd, it's a fairly aerodynamic car for it's size. The Jury is still out on using the cruise control.
