Since it's that time of year again, and this is always a topic of spirited debate, how do you think college football's national champion should be crowned? Playoffs, or a polls and bowls system like the BCS?

The poll is intentionally an either-or, and it's only to determine the national champion. Put nuance, specifics, and finer points in your responses.

My bright idea. The top 12 teams are put into an NFL-like playoff, and the rest of the bowl-eligible teams get invites to bowl games as a consolation. It'd be analogous to NCAA basketball, with the NCAA tournament and the NIT as a consolation.

I'm partial to all kinds of ideas, but I'd like to see it centered on conference championships.

Something like a 12 team playoff with 6 conference champs (Big12, Big10, Pac10, SEC, ACC, BigEast) & 6 wildcards. You may have to eliminate non-conference games to squeeze it in?

But the battle for conference championships is overshadowed by the weekly BCS computer raffle, and that's a shame.

A college football playoff is like a PHEV. It's a no brainer............and yet, I still can't have one. :)

It's interesting to see the weekly polls ranking the NFL teams since they often don't agree with the results at the end of the season. ;)
