View Full Version : Big bucks for Warranty work....
TurboGP 11-13-2008, 02:04 PM Which I did not have to pay for.
This past Saturday I left home and went 1.5 miles and three dash warning lights came on.
IMA Light
Check Engine Light
Battery Light
Owners manual said to not drive as car may not drive properly. Which was accurate.
Took to the dealer Monday they diagnose code U0110, Motor Control Module needs replaced. This part was priced at...... Wait for it!
$2700
This did not include labor for the repair. Roush Honda kept their usual excellent customer service up as always.
Any Honda Techs out their know anything about this? After the repair the car is performing like it had been before the break down.
Take care,
Mike
Chuck 11-13-2008, 02:12 PM It must have been within the first 150,000 miles.
Check Engine could mean hundreds of things, from a gas cap what was not tightened, to a grave problem like this one...that's why Honda had a light just for the IMA system.
In crude terms, it's sort of like a conventional car with the alternator out.
msirach 11-13-2008, 08:24 PM What year of car?
Was that the only code?
If it is a HCHII, it will say gas cap on the dash. I thought that was a GREAT thing that Honda did. I know several people that have paid about $80 to get their gas cap tightened.
hobbit 11-13-2008, 08:26 PM I wish they'd MANDATE full diagnostic readouts in new cars, with
the code *and* the text of what it means, and a menu option
to clear the code. This external-scantool stuff is nonsense.

msirach 11-13-2008, 08:43 PM It's easy profit for the dealers though. It will take a leader like Honda or Toyota to make it more mainstream.
Kacey Green 11-13-2008, 08:49 PM It'd still be easy profit, if the screen keeps reporting stuff and its not a simple fix like time to change to oil or add air to the tires or tighten the gas cap, folks will bring the car in, trust me. A few won't bring it in if it says O2 sensor but if they knew what it did to FE and not just emissions they'd take care of that too.
Mendel Leisk 11-13-2008, 09:20 PM This is kind of off-topic, but I recollect with one Accord we had, I started noticing a whistling sound when the car was parked and shut off after a long drive on a hot day. The next time I was in to the dealership for service I asked if that meant anything. Full stop.
Maybe a week later, I started noticing a smell of gas fumes emanating from the fill cap corner of the car. Turns out they'd taken my question and ran with it: they'd drilled a hole right through the gas cap...
JusBringIt 11-13-2008, 09:34 PM I paid 70 bucks for my pcm (powertrain control module). Ask me and I will show you where ;)
tipirneni 02-13-2010, 02:32 PM Hello every one,
This is my first posting and I just joined today. I really happy to see this site and would like to sahre my problems.
I have 2006 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID at 67K .It is out of warranty.
I got check engine light and got codes by AutoZone for free of cost. But this gives the huge number of ODB codes. Can you please tell me whatcould be my problem if any one knows about these and where to look for these.
P0128
P2185
U0110
U0111
U1205
U1206
U0028
U0037
I totally confused by seeing all these codes.
Thanks,
KT
Chuck 02-13-2010, 03:35 PM This is going to take some time, but getting the OBDII codes is a start.
Next is to Google each - one code at a time.
To make sure this Google hit is relavant, the search argument should be the code, OBDII, maybe add Civic and or Honda.
