Just today, I noticed a HUGE increase in the number of hybrids around Bryan/College Station. The town is very heavy on the big trucks, suvs, and other gas guzzling vehicles. Even small cars are in the minority here. Until last week, I had only seen one hybrid owned by a cab company. Last week, I spotted one parked on campus. I saw it again today, along with 6 other hybrids. Anyone else notice an increase lately?

That's what it felt like today. :D If you've ever been to Bryan/College Station, you'd know that the population isn't the type that is likely to drive a hybrid.

4 years ago, I had the only hybrid in our county of about 25,000. Now I have 4 friends with them and an estimated 30 in the county with about 15 in our town of 9,000.

I was at Whole Foods in downtown Austin yesterday, and that's what the parking garage looked like. Literally.
As I was driving from Austin to College Station today, there were 2 hybrids in front of me. One was for a company called enetsolutions, and the other one was a Texas Department of Transportation vehicle. On it was a graphic for Drive Clean Across Texas.

I've seen lots of hybrids in Austin recently. I have also noticed an increase on campus but not to the extent I have seen in Austin.
Perhaps an "Aggie Hypermilers" student group is in order at Texas A&M? I'm sure the financial incentive would be attractive to many college students. Especially the part about getting a MPG comparable to that of a hybrid in their existing cars.

And now, I have noticed even more hybrids on campus. There always seems to be at least one Prius parked near the Zachry building. (Which could go really well with the solar panels and windmills on top of the building, but they have not installed the necessary equipment.) Oh yeah, Gig 'em Green!
Some of the buses are hybrid-ready (they have a panel clearly labeled "battery disconnect" on the side) but from what I've heard, none of them actually have the hybrid upgrade installed.
