I found this while just searching around the net for nothing in particular. This article is old, but it is very interesting. I never saw it before and I'm sure it will be new to others as well.

That's one of the best internet reads I've had since I started finding information on FE driving.

I've had a pointer to that for quite some time in my big Prius
link-farm (http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/cars/prius-linkfarm.html). I love the animated GIFs showing how a
merge done with brains instead of brawn pops cars off the top
faster, and I know that I've done my own little share of jam-busting
out on the roads around here. I'm trying to convince people that
it really does work, and trying to boil that "MPG hints" text down
into something aimed more at the common person who maybe isn't
part of the choir yet.
.
The tailgating/aggression thing is COMPLETELY out of hand almost
everywhere. See my attempted "mandates" thread-starter over in
"off-topic" ... I am DEAD SERIOUS about that line of thinking.
.
I understand where Mike's thinking about "wasting gas via everyone
else", but 9 times out of 10 if they'd plan their pass around
a slow car even *slightly* more in advance, they would not have
to change their speed at all. They just need to get off the
**** phone and pay attention.
