You will need cold beer, about one per mount.

A flat edge to smooth out urethane, not so much with this particular mount.

An old mount with cracks, that is torn, worn or soft,

3M Windo-Weld, part #08609

Calking gun, the stronger the better, this urethane is wrist breakingly thick.

I really expected this mount to be in horrible shape but it wasn't. I fixed it anyway.
I wouldn't recommend filling in the travel slots like I did because of the increase in
vibration to the engine and passenger compartment. Normally you would fix a mount with
obvious damage, ie really torn with missing chunks of rubber but I was as usual driven
by determination at all costs.

I bought this at Advanced Auto for $14.99 and used maybe 75 cents worth.

Make sure you cut the noozle off enough, this stuff is like tar, it takes two hands to squeeze
it out almost.

I did one side then the other.

It takes 24 hours to cure completely but I'm guessing you could do it sooner when your
only using a small amount like this.

Thanks Kacey Green for the help. You da man!

How's that?
I left the original so you could see what I did. The original url was to the flicker page, I took one of the images and right clicked it to get the correct url, but it includes a variable, something like "v=0" or somesuch I removed that and got a working pic.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thanks for the tip about the window weld urethane.

Can I ask what your reason was for filling in the mounts?

Originally I thought that one or more of my mounts was worn out. After taking it off the car I discovered that there was a bolt missing from the mount bracket to the firewall, which was my real problem. I replaced the missing bolt.

Not to be discouraged by such trivial things as an unnecessary purchase, I "repaired" a perfectly good mount with the 3M polygoop. It probably serves no good purpose but I had it in my mind to fix something and needed an excuse to drink beer. :D - Dale

Thanks,

Yes I've "tightened up" some worn motor mounts like that on my oval track race car once. It's much more economincal than buying new mounts. :D

I think it's fine. After how many years of that little 1L baby rocking on that rubber it probably needed some freshening.
