Only 500 more miles to go! Last tank was 800+ with a 13.5 gall fill so if I can maintain my current avg. I should be able to do it in 15 gallons. Last 2 days averaged over 70. :woot:

Now I just need to learn how to FAS and P&G...

Wow! Congrats. That is pretty impressive. I can't imagine what kind of numbers you will be able to get once you implement FAS and P&G.

EDIT: I just noticed that your dash is identical to mine, sans the SGII. I need to get one of those already. I'll cross my fingers, I think I am getting some extra money soon.

When I opened this thread I thought to myself, "Oh, That's cool - another Prius/Insight getting a kilo tank." Little did I realize you're driving a Civic, non-hybrid. Wow---- I say it again. Congrats!!!!! :p

Yeah, it is pretty incredible what some people can wring out in a standard car. For a kilo tank in dr_dx's Civic, he would have to get about 75 MPG steadily for the whole tank. That's assuming he has a 13.2 gallon tank like I do in my Civic. 75 MPG is a pretty crazy number. Most hybrid drivers never even touch anything close to that (Unless they know about hypermiling, of course).

I can't wait till my SGII arrives in the mail (how long is it going to take, dammit! :mad: ). I'm getting about a steady 48 MPG or so, flying blind so to speak. Hopefully the SG will open my eyes up to some new ideas and techniques. But, step by step. First I want to break 50... then 55, and then 60. And then I'll reassess. But that's the game plan for now.

I am curious, what techniques are you using dr_dx? Could you give us some details on your commute as well? Is it downhill both ways? :o

I am not going to make 75mpg for the tank. I am pretty well at my limit I think (I could do better) but I will admit to being lazy. I fill my tank to the top and I am counting on getting at least 15 gallons out of it which, if I can maintain my avg., will put me a little over 1000. The leanburn engine helps a lot.

I started using limited FAS and coasting that has seemed to help.

Daily commute is 52.2 miles Home is at 1700' elevation and work is at 800'. To work avg is 73~77mpg and back is 60~65mpg. Country driving=50% Highway driving=40% city=10%

This 45 degree weather is murder on FE! I got a couple of gallons in the trunk, I think I will see how far I can go.

Well, I chickened out and stopped at the gas station. I have about 6 miles of interstate underconstruction that has no shoulder and I didn't want to run out there. :p:p

15.571 gallons for 1034.3 miles = 66.42mpg (scangauge is off a little)

With another decent tank, I should be able to qualify for ellite hypermiller status, but with cold weather coming, that may be tough. :woot:
