Knowing this guy, he's seeing their profits and wants a piece of the action. He'll probably shut them down and re-open them under a different name and run by the national government. I'll be surprised if he isn't assinated within the next 5 to 10 years.

I think it took me two months for me to even dare go to a McDeath after WFEC considering the amount we all collectively ate that weekend

Ok on second thought, what's so bad about Chavez? He shut down all the McDonalds? We've all seen that Supersize Me documentary haven't we? McDonalds food is pretty much poison and it probably would be good if they were shut down.

Having spent some time with Wayne, if he had closed SubWay it would mean war.

Closing McD's wouldn't bother me much at all. But closing Subway, I'd have to agree with Jud on that one...a Chernobyl-scale meltdown.:D

McDonalds is E85 for the human body. Survivable, but you get more energy and longevity from other options.
With Venezuela's "middle class" being rather poor, they don't have the cash to lay out for a "number eight" and an apple pie, so it's all just a pudgy dictator doing whatever he can to get some headlines.

There was a guy who did the opposite as the supersize me guy. He went to McDonald's and ate healthy choice items and lost weight, reduced blood pressure, and got much healthier. It's all about choices.

There's nothing healthy on the dollar menu though. :p

Between McDonald's dollar menu and Subway's $5 footlongs, there's your road trip food right there.

Ok, here's my diet (70% of my food):

Beer (obviously :)), Ramen, Campbell's Chicken Noodle (in the 10oz cans), Coke or Pepsi products (Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, although I don't really like Dr. Pepper), and of course McDonald's Dollar Menu.

Given the cost of pizza ($12 or so plus delivery) it's usually not on the table as an affordable option.

My definition of "diet" is to cut calories in absolute terms. That means I end up not eating much at all (MPGfest being the exception with that excellent prime rib).

Yeah that's the sucky thing about pizza, you pretty much have to be using a coupon to be able to afford to eat it.

I go to wally world and get pizza for a dollar (totino's). It is really good frozen pizza and is the only one I will ever eat frozen. Each serves three. It's what I Lived on when I was in college ...o the good old days...

Do what I did for two years. Get a book of coupons from one of those fundraiser people and then when you're on the phone tell the pizza guy "i have a buy one get one free" coupon. Get two pizzas for 15 bucks. Split the cost with other people in the dorm (and pocket any leftovers from their contribution). 99% of the time the pizza guy won't even bother to ask for the coupon.

In fact I lost more coupons to the washing machine than the pizza guy.

You know... making pizza by hand is pretty cheap, and can taste just as good as the smaller pizza shops. The food network has a show hosted by Alton Brown, and he did a truly excellent pizza show. That, coupled with a good bread book (like the Bread Bakers Apprentice), makes it a fairly painless task. I sat down and figured the cost to be about 3.50 per pie (including electricity) from all the raw ingredients (king arthur bread flour, kosher salt, yeast, veggy oil). It'd be even cheaper if you made fresh mozzarella at home (I've not done this yet... I need to find some non-homogenized milk).

When did you manage to get some of that delicious prime rib?

During lunch that day and then some more later that evening.

OOO god!!! I would never eat McClown Food.

I feel a gag reflex coming on. How can anybody eat that crap? When we all met in OK on the turnpike at a McClown food place. It was all I could do to keep from hurling at the smell of it.

There's nothing healthy on the dollar menu though. :p

.....

The side salad is $1.00 and isn't bad.

Double Cheesburger, side salad, and water to go--$2.16 after tax--is one of my four standard fast food meals. I stay away from the kiddie food--pop and fries-- because it's just empty calories and fat. I go to Subway instead if it's closer.
