This would be a project for the daring who have the expertise. I don't know if it could be done by U of Wis. or outside Honda.

It would be: take an Insight and replace the OEM IMA with one of a Civic, giving it a more robust Assist and perhaps more time in the lean burn mode. Add MIMA and Billy's video cams, and you have an Insight that could do 100mpg effortlessly.

Are you looking for a vehicle that does 100mpg (assuming P&G) effortlessly, or do you want to specifically modify a Honda Insight for this purpose?

I'm doing a "what if" - a dream car.

I better explain this more.

I'm basically fantisizing.

Honda is not going to make an "Insight II".

This is a "what if" some engineers had the info and know-how to mate a Civic IMA with the Insight's ICE and enable it to work in lean burn mode more. Along with other mods, it might be able to do 100mpg without serious hypermiling - just like the Insight II concept car.

I called the thead "Mission Impossible" because I don't know if it would be possible to do outside of Honda.
