View Full Version : every thursday gas goes up...WAY up
laurieaw 08-03-2006, 03:53 PM it's been the pattern ever since i have worked where i do. i am halfway between minneapolis and "up north", about where the cidiots need to fill up their trucks on the way to the lake with all their toys. inevitably, every thursday afternoon, gas prices here go up. coincidence? you tell me :)
today, since i came to work, they are up 20 cents to 3.19, with diesel at 3.44. this is the highest i have ever seen them, even topping the 3.09 that spiked last september the week i bought my HCH. this is just crazy, and yet tonight i know the roads will still be crowded with guzzlers. this girl's taking the back roads again.
diamondlarry 08-03-2006, 04:18 PM Gas prices took a huge jump here in northern IN today. This morning, it was $2.949. This afternoon on my way home, the same station was at $3.199.  Maybe it's time that I finally became a hybrid owner by buying a Prius. If only I could come up with the $'s.

This same phenomenon hits the Jersey Shore, just not on a weekly basis. The prices will start steadily going up in the beginning of May and then level off just after Memorial Day. This gets both the day-trippers and the Summer residents. Miraculously, prices will go back down a little bit after Labor Day.
On Friday evenings the Garden State Parkway will be choked with the weekend warriors while I'm just trying to get home from work.
Of course, I won't be using any gas when we slow to a crawl or stop completely. :D
Kevin Barrett 08-03-2006, 09:38 PM West Michigan prices were as "low" as $2.939 this morning, only to sky-rocket to $3.199. Will these 20 plus cent swings ever end or is this the way it will be for some time?
brick 08-04-2006, 08:01 AM I don't think it happened around here, or at least not at the stations that I pay attention to. The price here has been between $3.119 and $3.299/gal (depending on location) for about a week. My fillup this morning was at $3.139. (Hey, look, I got cheap gas! ;) ) One station actually went down from $3.259 to $3.199 on Monday or Tuesday.
psyshack 08-04-2006, 08:51 AM I pay it no mind anymore. Just fillup, go thru a short shock, blank it out and go on. I suprised its not $5.00 per gallon.
Well, I noticed that gas went down at the BP I fill up all the Caddys that need a bit of gas (they only let me put in $15 at a time, except for Escalades, they get $20 and only if they are empty) since yesterday by 2 cents. I put premium in all the cars at $3.119 today (credit price is $3.159).
Went down again today. premium (93) $3.089, mid (89) $2.989, reg (87) $2.889.
hehe, down again to 2.839/2.939/3.039
Chuck 08-14-2006, 07:19 PM I plan to leave for Colorado early Friday, so I hope the hike is not too bad....
laurieaw 08-14-2006, 10:36 PM amazing. it's 2.96 here now. practically free LOL
2.789/2.889/2.989
I like this trend ... 10 cents in a week. If i wait half a year it will be free :p
brick 08-15-2006, 09:13 PM More like 2 cents a week here. Down to $3.09! I add an exclamation point as if that's something to be excited about.
