part of cleanmpg or hypermiling is saving money. I'm sorry I'm so skeptical of everything. Why are there two links, one for $140 and one for $150? Who would CHOOSE to pay a higher price? Also what's up with the "good luck"? Is there some chance If I pay $140 through paypal's donate link that I will, in fact, be donating? I just want a scanguage at the cheapest price but am wary of deals that are too good to be true. I'm sorry about the noobie questions but times are hard and money is tight.

The $140 is limited time deal, the other is the standard pricing that's been in place for a while. Wayne always ends his posts with "__Good Luck".

Hi Feddup:

___There are many vendors you can purchase a ScanGauge-II from but few have delivered hundreds as CleanMPG has. For Sale/Wanted (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=48&order=desc)

___What you receive for $150 is pre-programming of your ScanGauge-II and the X-Guages plus a CleanMPG decal as shown below.

http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/591/HCH_crop.JPG

___For $140, you receive the ScanGauge-II :)

___This is a fund raiser and it cannot be posted on the open forums due to Linear Logics Minimum pricing obligations. I opened previous Group Buys to the membership at $149.95 and a vendor out of UT was causing a raucous so Linear asked that I take this private. A non-member cannot see what we post here in the members only forum and Linear gave me permission to sell them as you see here.

___Linear Logic (makers of the ScanGauge-II) is sponsoring our World Record 48-State contiguous drive starting the middle of next month and this was an excellent way to keep their out of pocket expense down and our fund raising ability up.

___Matt, thank you!

Wayne,

How diffcult is it to switch/program this between two cars? I would like my wife to use it in her daily communte. She drives an Accord. I would like to use it on trips to help me get in the "super highway mode" (SAHM).

Hi Frank:

___Not hard at all but your day, previous day and tank numbers will be FUBAR between the swaps of course. An asterisk shows up in those displays when you swap and re-program each time but the SAHM for your HCH-II will make it all worthwhile :)

___Damionk, this is a fund raiser with special compensation from Linear Logic for sponsorship so I cannot guarantee this price going forward by any means :(

Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to this level of driving.

Are Scan Gauges still available? If so, how soon after paying will it be shipped to me? Do you provide UPS tracking #?

Finally, how much is the Scan Gauge programmed for my vehicle $139.95 or $149.95?

Thanks. I hope tp order one from you once I get a reply.

Hi Smile-n-Nod and Colonol:

___For all owners, having both an iFCD (instantaneous) and an aFCD (averaging) display on the same screen is absolute gold. Without the aFCD X-Gauge, you have to swap to a separate screen to check on your progress (aFCD) and back to your 4-display screen with the iFCD. When you are learning to achieve better FE over a given area or segment, seeing the aFCD along with your std. gauges gives you an idea if your new approach (multitude of techniques) work better or worse than your previous approach.

___For FEH and Prius-II owners, the whole toolbox can be displayed including SoC, Batt Current, Voltage, and Torque from the motors as a few examples. None are available unless an X-Gauge is programmed for display.

I ordered a Scan Guage II with X-Gauge this morning for $149.95. I understand that this includes some level of programming. I don't know if you need to know my vehicle in order to do this programming. Just in case, it'sa 2008 Honda Civic EX coupe with automatic transmission.

Can you please let me know when it will ship and provide a tracking number once you have it?

Hi Masa:

___Basic programming is engine and fuel tank size plus any offsets and fuel cut setting you change when you move it from one vehicle to the other. This does not effect the X-Gauge's unless it’s an active vs. passive X-Gauge. The only active X-Gauges I program are for Prius’.

___Trip, check your E-Mail for the confirmation and you are all set. I plan on shipping last 8 ScanGauges out late tomorrow evening and will supply a tracking number to everyone as well.

Wayne, I went ahead and drove today, I decided I didn't want to ride my bicycle in the rain :P First time driving in 3 weeks :) lol. I made my grocery stop too, to help justify driving. ;)

That scanguage is amazing! It's really nice having the extra data, as I love data :) the road I drive to work is 45 mph speed limit, has a lot of traffic, and has a lot of stoplights that are poorly timed or not timed at all (triggered by cars), and it's only 8 miles... So I didn't do too hot today. The scanguage (and super SAHM!!) will help mostly when I do longer trips (moving to a new base or visiting my parents).

Unfortunately, I am moving to upstate NY in January, just in time for heavy winter. I will not be able to ride my bicycle through the snow and will be getting horrible FE :/ Not too excited...

Hi Wayne,

Do the $139.95 and $149.95 prices still apply? I looked for the two buttons but they're not showing up on my screen here.

Thanks.

How many vehicles can the gauge be programmed for? What info is needed to do the programming and how difficult is it? How many can be programmed with the $150 price?

xcel

Hi ICTMiler:

___Base programming has to be performed between each vehicle. About 5-minutes for a beginner. 1-minute after a few attmepts.

___Basic Passive X-Gauges go with the ScanGauge but active ones can cause problems with other vehicles.

___X-Gauge programming can take as little as 10 minutes to as long as an hour depending on how many you are inputting.

Hi there,

I'm a new member over in the UK - I'm keen to get a ScanGauge - my wife is in florida for two weeks from wednesday - can I just check that you're OK with shipping to a hotel address?

Thanks,

James

Does anyone know if the Scanguage is more accurate, less accurate, or equally inaccurate as the Built in aFCD on my HCHII? I've been driving more since I my biannual Physical Readiness Test next week and have been wanting to maximize my energy for running instead of biking.

Usually the Scangauge has been about 3 mpg higher than my Civic's aFCD, today it was 6.2 mpg higher on one trip!! The fact that it is only a short 8 miles to work probably doesn't help accuracy :)

You know what they say, "You only know what time it is if you have only one clock" ? lol

Ah, just found Wayne's article when he had that HCHII.

"___Anyway, top off to top off showed the OEM FCD underreporting by 2% while the SG-II was over-reporting by 13.3 MPG . Both over the entire tank."

So if I am understanding this right, they are both inaccurate, in opposite directions, but the OEM one is closer than the SGII uncalibrated...

Hi John:

___If you are good with it, I am… Make sure the hotel knows something is coming in for a guest somehow.

___Owlmaster, yes. If uncalibrated, the SG-II is over by quite a bit. After the second and than third, tank, you will be find your SG-II output getting closer and closer to actual with the tank calibrations input at each fill.

Gosh, after each tank?!?! It is going to take forever to calibrate! ;)

It's not that bad if its a car like a HCHII. Many members here (including me) have a HCHII with Scangauge and can give you the offsets to program. I use the Scangauge to watch other things like load, ign, tps. The mpg is secondary. There are things going on in the brain of the HCHII that you can't see/feel without a Scangauge.

___Sounds like you are doing well if you are only filling up every other month or so!

___Have you seen the HCH-II commercial where the guy stops shaving until he has to fill up next. He looks like a caveman and he still has half a tank left or something :D

The $149.95 fund raiser looked too good to pass up. I've already got on 'older' (non upgraded) SGII on my IS350. Just ordered the pre-programmed new one for the Ridgeline.
