When I set up my 2000 Civic EX to log mileage I found that with the 5 speed transmission there are 3 mileage selections.
26/31
30/35
32/37
How do I know which one is right for my car?

The lowest, it's an EX. Shortest gears.

Thanks Shifty! I should be able to match or beat that no problem. This car is really good at coasting!

26/31 is for the DOHC SI engine, not the EX. You want 30/35 for the EX (sohc vtec).

Whoops, totally forgot about the SI. B16A2 has even shorter gearing, if you can believe it!
30/35 is the right one.

So I assume the 32/37 is for the HX, right? I saw one of those with about 150k miles after I got my EX. But the sunroof and pwr windows are nice! And I think I can get > 37 mpg anyway. After looking through the garage I see that many people are topping 50, but that is no doubt with a SG. Can't afford one of those right now.

HX is rated 37/44.
32/37 is for the non-vtec DX. They did something in 1998 to drop the city and highway mpg ratings by 1, compared to the 96-97 DX like mine.
