Larry malherbe 08-09-2008, 05:14 AM I have a honda odyssey. It seems to be made for hypermiling. Neutral coasts at low speed result in an upshift, and the computer can run the engine on 3 cylinders durind low output. Super-long coasts!! Zate 08-09-2008, 08:51 AM Honda, 34 mpg's at 60-65 mph. Tank average is only 20 though.. and it glides for AGES, a P&G in this thing is pretty effective. fireflyfarm 08-09-2008, 09:01 AM They need to build a 4-cyl with a manual. Bring back the Microbus. Larry NOOOOoooooo!! I had a '73 Camper (Non-pop-top). I called it the "Anti-Bus". It broke down 5 times in 3 weeks, then died for good, after owning it for a month. I'll keep my '69 Beetle, thanks! I have seen a few over the years. wikipedia Vanagon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Type_2_(T3)) iluvmacs 08-11-2008, 12:06 AM In May, I drove my dad's van across town and back (damn 10-foot 2x4's can't fit in the Prius... ;-)) and got 29MPG round-trip. Nothing fancy (i.e. no FASing). '04 Sienna rated 17/25/20. Driving was half highway and half city, so that's near 50% improvement on a vehicle I rarely drive :-D. rweatherford 08-11-2008, 08:16 AM We had almost our best tank the other day and I have no idea how we did it. We don't use any real hypermiling techniques other than driving reasonably and 50 PSI in the tires. We've had 31 MPG and 32 MPG tanks. How long and for what speed do you want me to beat 34 mpg? malherbe 08-11-2008, 01:58 PM I am impressed with these numbers. Our old chrysler minivan could not make the 300 mi trip on one tank. This last trip was less than 1/2 tank on the gauge. The tires were inflated to 50, the speed was about 65 mph (less through construction). rweatherford 08-11-2008, 09:55 PM I am impressed with these numbers. I should know we have quite a variety of them where I work. Everything from trucks to vans. I have several friends with Caravans too. Our van is small and geared a bit too low for US roads. The newer 08 has a 5-speed auto with a taller ratio in top gear. They are 28 MPG highway EPA rating vs 27 MPG for the 06-07 4-speed auto. Either way it's doing pretty good for us and we are very happy. We were driving a full size GM wagon @ 18 MPG. Some claim 24-25 MPG out of them when optioned differently than our wagon was. I have saved quite a bit of money this year. OLD SKOOL 08-11-2008, 11:58 PM I made a run from Sacramento to Reno last week, in the Windstar averaged 24.9 for the trip. The scan-gage really helps.... Mad Hatter 08-14-2008, 01:19 PM I've had it up to 34 MPG on the scan gauge in our 07' Ody too. That is on our trips to the beach with a load on highway with 55-65 limits. However, if its hot then the wife insists on AC and MPG drops to 30 and below. PaleMelanesian 08-14-2008, 01:44 PM 33.5 yesterday in our 04 ody, on my normal daily commute. 1/2 rural 55 mph roads, 1/2 city. No AC, DWL keeping it above 45 mph, Nice-on gliding with the shifter and with pedal manipulation, FAS gliding below 35 mph. MT bucket 08-14-2008, 08:12 PM My last run of the day was 21 miles and i got 33.3 m p g in the D-van averaging around 45 mph doing as much gliding as traffic would allow... malherbe 08-25-2008, 06:54 PM Same minivan same trip wife driving = 26 mpg's. koreberg 08-25-2008, 08:53 PM Soon as I get my scan gauge I will see what I can do with my new FSP. PaleMelanesian 08-26-2008, 09:58 AM Last weekend - 29.2 mpg over 624 miles, with AC running. DWL at around 60 mph. melinuxfool 06-02-2009, 07:41 AM Honda, 34 mpg's at 60-65 mph. Anybody top that?:):Banane42: I remember back a few years, in my 1993 Dodge Caravan, getting 35 miles per gallon on a 190 mile trip up to Presque Isle, Maine. I wasn't doing any hypermiling back then either, it was cc on at 65, sometimes as high as 75. We had a very good tailwind that day. The return trip, unfortunately, made up for it. I wonder if I could have gotten 40 mpg out of that van if I had hypermiled it. 98CRV 06-02-2009, 12:27 PM My last month with my CRV has been gorgeous. 38 + mpg - but that's with no a/c, 4 cyl, 5 speed manual. Your 34 mpg @ 60-65 are great. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
