View Full Version : Cheaper gas?
GreenVTEC 07-29-2008, 12:52 PM Anyone else seeing cheaper pump prices yet?
My normal Shell station is down to $4.19. High but I realized looking at the SGII that my last fill had a saved fuel cost of $4.35. So that's a 16 cent drop in only a week.
Think gas will be under $4.00 soon?
gfdengine204 07-29-2008, 12:53 PM I saw $3.89 on my drive to work yesterday......
worthywads 07-29-2008, 12:59 PM 4.05 last week, 3.97 yesterday, 3.93 today.
PaleMelanesian 07-29-2008, 01:01 PM $3.95 last week, down to 3.85 this morning.
ATaylorRacing 07-29-2008, 02:16 PM Around here it was $4.09 last week and has been falling down to $3.89, but I got a ride last We to Columbus, OH and bought a Geo Metro 1.0 and filled up there at $3.84. This last weekend my son filled up in Cleveland, OH for $3.54!
JusBringIt 07-29-2008, 02:32 PM 3.97 here...last time gas went in my car it was 4.21....on the 14th of july

2008Mazda3i 07-29-2008, 04:23 PM $3.89 in Il where I'm now and $3.78 in DFW as of this morning. Oh how I wish it was sub $3 again when my car could be filled for $32 @ the most, even better would be sub $2 :)
3.76 at my Costco
7/26/08
tgienger 07-29-2008, 08:56 PM $3.56 just tonight it dropped .06. That's E10 blend in central IA.
azraelswrd 07-29-2008, 09:28 PM Rest assured California is still the 3rd most expensive in avg reg gas last I checked (yesterday) with $4.30. My local station dropped to $4.19..... the irony is that the drop happened AFTER I filled up. Bleh.
SD3_Driver 07-29-2008, 09:52 PM you are lucky, down here two weeks with crude price going down and i still paying 4.02 a gal.... :(
Callen 07-29-2008, 10:05 PM I filled in Nebraska for 3.58 over the weekend.
lamebums 07-29-2008, 10:36 PM I paid as high as 4.06, saw as high as 4.25 (for E10 RFG), and last time I filled it up, paid 3.71. The same station I filled up is now in the mid-60's.
Mr. Kite 07-31-2008, 10:59 AM It looks like the Denver area average price has dropped $0.11 in the last 2 weeks. Luckily, I never broke the $4 barrier. I pass a Conoco station that has been at $3.829 for the last several days. However, I have only been filling up at Shell stations since I have a bunch of their gift cards.
SlowHands 07-31-2008, 11:41 AM yup - last week was 4.29, two days ago 3.99 today 3.96... I just might have to fill up before I get that 40mpg tank.
Shiba3420 07-31-2008, 12:07 PM NE Illinois....the stations I keep an eye on are down between 30 and 35 cents over just a few weeks ago. I'm probably in a minority saying I miss $4+ gas...people are already complaining less and making more driving plans. Looks like even this small drop may cause a lot of people to revert to their old ways. There was something about the $4 barrier that really scared people.
Right Lane Cruiser 07-31-2008, 12:13 PM Hm. Maybe that is the reason the traffic has been worse on my commute lately?
bomber991 07-31-2008, 12:16 PM Yes, gas went from $4.17 to $4.04 from the last time I filled up. Probably has something to do with the "summer driving season" coming to an end.
Ad copy for GM: Gas prices are falling, Hummers are cheap, life is good.

I've said for a few months now that I always thought oil would undergo a correction, perhaps down to $100 a barrel. Gas would drop to $3.80 at the pump, and the trends would reverse. People would speed back up and continue buying wasteful gas-guzzlers as if there was no problem.
After all, it did drop to $3.80 so we can buy Fsp's again, right?
koreberg 07-31-2008, 04:19 PM @lamebums
Fsp, yup that is just what i'm getting. Can't wait til it gets here, except for the pax tires.
hazeldazel 07-31-2008, 04:31 PM snap! you guys' gas is cheeeeeeeep! The cheap-o station here is selling it for $4.25 which is $0.35 drop in price from the high a couple weeks ago. Never thought I'd be happy for gas that's only $4.25!
YarSwiss 07-31-2008, 06:19 PM Still $4.40 around here (LA). I wonder if all this talk about offshore oil drilling has caused speculators to stop all the mad buying?
2008Mazda3i 08-04-2008, 11:25 AM 3.69 Here Now That I Have Returned From Il. And Oil Has Dropped To $120 A Barrel Today
summer09 08-13-2008, 03:05 AM the price of the gas per barrel already dropped down but the gas prices still remains the same... :Banane24:

Thats the price for crude oil.
It takes a few weeks for it to reach us
JusBringIt 08-15-2008, 12:00 PM Thats the price for crude oil.

Oil companies raise price of gas to the consumers as soon as crude goes up, they make excess profits keeping prices artificially high even though they bought it at a much lower price, so the price does not take a few weeks to reach us. They were speculated for doing this last year and they're doing it again.
E10 is here for $3.64 while straight gas is $3.80. 16 cents price difference which works out to be 4.2% higher.
Still $4.40 around here (LA). I wonder if all this talk about offshore oil drilling has caused speculators to stop all the mad buying? No, it was the 10 billion fewer miles (http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/28/news/economy/driving/index.htm?cnn=yes) driven by Americans in May of 2008 compared to May 2007. I personally think that the breaking point was reached when a fillup on a full-size SUV began to exceed $100. I know what that would do to me.the price of the gas per barrel already dropped down but the gas prices still remains the same... :Banane24:It's been dropping pretty quickly around here (Philadelphia metro and outer 'burbs). I've seen $3.40/gal for regular (in NJ so it's E-10, yuk). I can't really say that the oil companies have held gas prices up while crude prices dropped this time around.
I just hope I made the right bet on heating oil for the upcoming winter. Our oil company has prepay plans, which usually work out nicely because they charge you the summer price and then deliver it in winter. But this year the prepay price was $4.699/gal fixed price, or $0.40/gal to guarantee a price of no greater than $4.699. I had a strong feeling that we were at a peak in terms of oil prices, so I only wagered $200 to guarantee 500 gallons. I hope I don't regret that decision this winter in the face of $3.xx heating oil...
