In the article they mention sun machines. I don't know if any of you have been around sun servers, but those things put of a TON of heat. That heat has to be created somehow. I'm thinking the servers aren't as energy efficient as the article says they are.

I hate Sun servers. Every company I've worked at but one somehow managed to flood their datacenter with Sun Solaris servers and they always end up paying for it. Terrible performance per watt, terrible I/O, terrible use of floorspace overall. One of the companies I worked at, which shall remain nameless, was upset because Sun told them they had to run the datacenter's A/C 10 degrees cooler to stop the Sun servers from crashing intermittantly, versus the IBM servers which didn't generate so much heat. That of course costs the company money to pump colder air under the raised floor to cool the servers more.
