My local dealer Parts Manager and I are now friends and has been checking for the new Escape Michelins and a spare matching rim that comes on the '09 FEH Limited. He ordered 10 Michelins for stock and now has them and can get me the bright alum rim at wholesale for $228.52. The tires retail for $176.95 each, but he will let me have them for $159.00. The spare rim for my '05 FEH was more than a $100 over this rim and it's painted.
Those Michelin Latitude Tour tires were listed on the Web (not our size) for about $300, so this is music to my ears.
I'm going to replace 2 of my tires on my '05 because of a flat and the worst tire I have, and put the new Michelins on the front. I should see a difference in the Eco-Plus and I'll post what I find out.
I'm going to take the Parts Manager for a ride and if he wants drive the new '09 because he ask me to bring it by when I get it. With 3 Fords in my driveway, I want to keep a good relationship with my new wholesale friend. It has been 8 days since my FEHL was shipped from the factory and people have been reporting a few on the lots now in CA.

Hi Gary:
___I am looking forward to what you think of the new Mich'es and more importantly, if there are any FE increases over the OEM Conti ECO's after you have 2,000 + on them. Try and get a good measure of distance traveled per the odo with the older and used Conti's vs. new Latitude's for us if you would as well.
___Good Luck

Anyone know how much the wheels/rims weigh on the FEH?

Not sure what a new tire and rim weigh or just them separate but my flat Eco Plus tire and rim was 45 pounds. I was comparing the weight a few weeks ago to my donut tire and rim which was 33 pounds. Only 12 pounds was added when I replace the donut with a FEH rim and Eco Plus tire. Those donut steel rims are much heavy than the stock rims, but the donut tire is much lighter of course than full size tire.
The parts manager has both the new Michelins and the Eco Plus tires in stock now, so maybe I can compare the weight difference of those and that would also give me the weight of stock rim. Michelin claims the new tires are light and it would be nice to know if there lighter than the Eco Plus tires.

Wow...TireRack shows the EcoPlus spec as 31#'s. If thats correct the rims would weigh in at 14#'s each. That makes the Ford OEM Wheels 0.8#'s lighter than the lowest weight performace wheels I've been able to find on the net. Looks like Ford is definately on top of its game in rolling resistance and enertial (damn did I spell that right!) lol resistance.

Wait a minute Mike, the 45 pounds was with 49,000 miles of wear on the Eco Plus tire. You need to add the weight of the missing rubber to the rim.

I just weighed my new '09 FEHL rim and my new Michelin Latitude Tour tires before I have them mounted as a spare for '09 and 2 front tires for my '05 FEH.
Rim is 20.4 pounds. Cost - $188.53 + $50 core charge
Michelin Latitude Tour tire is 29.4 pounds. Cost each - $159

I just got back from Goodyear who mounted the 2 Michelin Latitude Tours on the front of my '05 FEH. I brought a scale to weigh the '05 FEH Rim, so now we can compare the weights. It is 2.2 pounds lighter than my new '09 FEHL Rim which is 20.4 pounds. The standard FEH Rim weighs 18.2 pounds. If you add the new Eco Plus at 31 pounds, the total weigh is 49.2 pounds. If you replace the Eco Plus tires with the new Michelins, the standard FEH Rim and Michelin tire would weigh 47.6 pounds each. WoW! This is what my new tires and Rims weigh on the front of my '05 FEH now.
The FEHL Rim and Michelin Latitude Tour tires weigh 49.8 pounds, which is .6 pounds more than the stock FEH rim and the Eco Plus. The folks that got the '09 FEH non Limited models have the 47.6 pound tire and Rim set-up.
