hi would the hybid rear spoiler help with my 07 civic lx at mileage ?

Yes, by a tiny bit. That spoiler is there to improve aerodynamics.

Does the bigger sporty wing that is an option on the sedan EX civic hurt the mpg any?

I was wanting one without wing but the price was right on this car and it has it. I was wondering if it would be worth either removing it or changing it for a Hybrid style wing?

Any thoughts on this ? Anyone actually do any tests mpg with and without the bigger wing?

That's a very big "it depends". A member here tested a 2-door accord and found it was better without. Sedan Civic, I'm not sure. If you can find a long steady downhill to do a coasting test, you can find out for yourself - whichever setup rolls faster / farther is the one you want.

Yeah, just by looking at it I would think it would be better without. But I do not have the time or the place right now to do the rolling test. Also, if the difference is negligible like 0.2 mpg or less I probably would not worry about it, but if its something like 1 mpg or more difference that may convince me to mess around with it. It also does block part of the rear view which is kinda annoying.

go with the proven design of the lip spoiler that comes on the hybrid. I'm sure honda put a lot of testing into it.

I will have to measure the hybrid one and see if it would cover the holes for the bigger sport one. Also see how much the hybrid wing would cost etc. hmmm... now that I am thinking about this it might take awhile to pay for itself after paying someone to paint it etc. might not be worth the hassle. I don't know. I was hoping maybe someone had dome some tests. Guess I will do more searching.

the deck lid spoiler offered by Honda looks to be a rather aerodynamic design. it comes pre-painted.

Thanks for the link. The decklid spoiler they are selling there is a different style than the one I was looking at on the Civic hybrid. they must have a couple different ones.

Nice they come pre-painted that would save some money.

Maybe Honda should just modified the trunk lid a bit, to produce the HCHII spoiler effect without having to bolt a chunk of plastic on, for the entire Civic line. It is a very modest difference, just a slightly greater flare and lift at the back edge. But then, they couldn't up-sell customers the spoiler.
