...coming up this weekend, with a few days in Scranton on the way. I'll be heading through the same country Xcel was during the tour del sol- based on his observations (even correcting for rain) I am not quite looking forward to the trip up through the mountains (hills for you Western folks), for FE... but the trip back should be more fun.

Scranton airport is listed at 962ft, Cooperstown at 1424. I'm starting at sea level.

Unfortunately I'll be loaded down with the family and almost a weeks' worth of luggage. sigh. I'm hoping for 39 roundtrip; we'll see and recalibrate as it unravels. This started as a dad/son trip and would have rocked for an all-out max FE trip, but once the wife decided to tag along... we'll just have to make do and turn lemons into lemonade :)

Once you get over the mountains and down to Oneonta, the climb to Cooperstown is over rolling hills/river valley farmland. You may be surprised at the final number when you pull into your destination. Good Luck!:)

Hi GoNavy:

___If you come across a serious side or head wind within 100 miles of Cooperstown, consider dropping down onto State Route 5 or whatever that route is called? This is much more hypermiling friendly drive and should be a touch cooler given you are driving along the river and in the shade of trees vs. stuck up in the wide open on I-90.

___Heading to Sebring, Florida with the wife earlier this year was a nightmare as far as a great FE run. 72 degrees or higher, the A/C had to be on … I want to get there faster … Go 65 mph #(%&#*@& … I want to stop here (with no warning for a long FAS :() … You know how that goes ;)

___I hope you receive tail winds in both directions but more importantly, enjoy the trip! Cooperstown was beautiful for the entire 5 minutes I drove through it during the TDS FE challenge.

___Good Luck

Hey, wait a minute - that's not fair! ;)

We bought my FEH a year ago last March, & my husband had a hard time with my changing driving habits - he would push on the dashboard when I accelerated slowly from a stop, point out to me that the speed limit had changed from 55 to 65mph, & pester me for driving 55mph (in the far right lane) of a 65mph zone, even when the left lane(s) were open for faster traffic to go around me.

Meeting you & Brad & other members of the Milwaukee Hybrid Group in June, & hearing you talk about your driving & FE was an eye-opener for him, lol. I don't think he really believed the results I was getting until you were so impressed with the numbers I was getting, & offered suggestions for how I could continue to improve my own FE. (After all, I'm a *girl* - I think hearing these things from other *guys* legitimized them in his eyes :) )

He has not driven the FEH since we bought it - I've told him he could if he wanted to, but at first he said he didn't want to mess up my seat adjustment (he's 6'2", I'm 5'3"); now he says he doesn't want to mess up my mpg! :D

Looking forward to meeting more of you at Hybridfest!
