I got the Scangauge II a few months back and it's been running great up until now. I recently changed my car radio (Blaupunkt MP56) and since i changed it the Scangauge II refuses to work properly. It says "connecting..." and sometimes it does connect, sometimes it freezes. When it does connect as soon as i press the "mute" button on my radio the Scangauge II freezes then switches off a short while after. I switch it back on but it doesn't show any readings and it switched back off. If i take the "mute" off then it works again!. This is VERY odd !. I know the scangauge is working because i've tried it in my fathers car. But it does not like my new radio, why would this be ??. The radio has been professionally fitted (straight swap into the ISO connectors). Is there a workaround/fix, or has anyone else had these issues and been able to fix it ?, otherwise the scangauge is not going to be of use to me ?
Best Regards
Andy

You have to say something about car make, model, year etc.
I can tell you that on my Toyota, the car's factory mileage computer sit in the radio unit, and to show the iFCD I have to press a key on the radio.
So there is obviously a connection in the iso plug that is going to the ECU, most probably on the same bus as the OBDII connector.
So yes, something is either wrong or correct by design...
Maybe one of the speaker outputs is connected to the wrong pin, treating the SG and the ECU as just another speaker :) :) :)

Cheers Shrek!,
I have rang Blaupunkt and they say i would need to adapt the wiring loom, but i'm not sure if he knows what he's on about. He reckons the mute wire might be interfering with the connector to the OBD plug. He suggests this link:

Does this sound right ?????????
That diagram looks as if they are trying to get me to add scotch locks somewhere ????? - but i cannot fathom it out !!
Can anyone see what they are trying to do in the diagram ?
Can i not simply cut the mute wire to solve this ? (if i need to reconnect it i could always use scotch locks)
Best Regards,
