Found this article (http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/105394/Relearning-How-to-Drive-55) on Yahoo Finance about "Relearning to Drive 55."
Problem is, they want studies. I think most can agree that better fuel efficiency is achieved at 65 than 75. Change it to 65 and 55 on secondary roads now with strict enforcement 10 mph over and a lot will be saved. Then have fun studying while people save gas.

A lot of drivers, it seems, don't like to be passed. The hard part of driving 55, is that you have to accept that you will be passed by nearly everyone. To me, it looks like everyone is racing each other, but in reality it is all a one-vehicle race. Very seldom is anyone going to the same place. You have to give up the temptation to race everyone around you.
I already drive 55 and less. The insurance companies really hate when someone doesn't keep up with the status quo, or to interpret, keeping up with traffic. Society dictates (evident by average traffic speed) that we must ALL drive 10-15 mph over the speed limit in order to be safe and prevent accidents. After all, accidents are caused by a difference in speed and direction, right? Some of us are trying to save gas money (or being kind the the environment) by changing the way we drive, yet it seems we're reprimanded by being accused of unsafe driving when we do.
So now we are stuck behind a rock and a hard place. Danged if you do, danged if you don't. Pick your battles, I say, and stick to them!
