We have so many bends here in NZ, sometimes I want to get in the fast lane on the freeway just so I can get the inside line through a corner and reduce distance covered. I'm trying to figure it out by combining the speed increase with a draft during and coast after. Its a tricky manoever that requires some skill. Until I get a way(fuel flow guage) to meter my carburetted car, its all guesswork.

I heard that this is the same problem in England - not many straight roads to maintain momentium.

Imagine trying to hypermile on this ribbon of road! It's in Italy. Saw it on Top Gear and even they hesitated to get on the road to drive it. Jermemy Clarkson said it's not like Playstation in which if you make a mistake you simply hit reset. If you make a mistake here you go through the pearly gates in a ball of fire.

you know, I was thinking, that would be one sweet mountain to hypermile...going down....what about auto elevators/escalators? you know, for steep hills, just a thought...

Fun! Reminds me of some of the roads I biked (down - there are trains going up) in Switzerland. And not that much worse than say Ebbets Pass (California 4 over the Sierra).
