Saw this great software in a threa (http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.php/flow-illustrator-simple-windtunnel-simulator-3709-3.html)d over at ecomodder.com.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KG6A5ZBNPlM Check out the airflow video of an FEH I made with the software....fun to play with :)

Here (http://chernyshenko.sesnet.soton.ac.uk/FIHome.htm) is the direct link to the software home page. It looks pretty cool.

Get that FEH a belly pan and some vortex tabs on the back.

Granted that one may get a vague idea of how shape can affect drag, what good is this software? Unless you know the wind speed, dynamic pressure, etc. no reliable conclusions can be made as to drag or anything else. Wind tunnel tests, whether done in a real wind tunnel or a virtual one, require a multitude of inputs (dimensional, velocity, temperature, and pressure) that are needed in order to calculate a family of results. All automotive and aerospace engineers know this.
By the way, I ran the data acquision system for a low speed (300 mph) wind tunnel for several years. It had an 8 foot X 10 foot cross section in the test section.

what good is this software?
It looks cool. Probably not worth much more.
