I was watching Pass Time on SPEED and they had a full electric s-10 that ran (i believe) high 9's / low 10's in the quarter. Wouldn't it be possible to run twin generators, when high load is required, on a 5 or 10 hp gas motor and install solar panels across the tonneau cover to generate power? Or does this sound a little too far fetched for cost and feasability. I know that I would like to have an electric full size truck to save on gas and be able to haul decent loads.

Any other ways to make it more possible? ie. twin electric motors (second motor and generator kicks on with a switch), maybe connect it to a transmission somehow, ect....

It has occurred to me that a Suburban has plenty of room to carry 2000-3000 lbs of batteries ,and it wouldn't be too hard to put a tiny 50 hp motor in the bay and tie it to the driveshaft.

It would be slow , but it could be a decent city delivery vehicle. The frame is probably up to the extra wt , but you would need some booster springs.
