Not sure whether you’ve noticed, but petrol’s getting expensive these days: £1.20 a litre. Ouch. By the end of the year, your house will be worth less than a full tank. What are we doing about it? Not much. Not unless you count a few truckers driving slowly down the M4.
What are the Yanks doing about it? Plenty. Even though gas costs just 54p a litre over there, that’s too much for our go-get-’em cousins. You see, Americans’ legs can no longer take the weight of their bodies. There’s been a Five documentary about it.
