If only I trusted the reliability of VW cars...

reliability: they are reliable if maintained according to the manual - deviate from the rec'd service intervals and you'll have issues. I have owned 3 modern VW's - 2 more than 10 years and more 150,000 miles very satisfied - my 3rd is only 18 months old w/ 28,000 miles also satisfied.

The 1L car is apparently going to be made - great news !

strong port to starboard winds could make opening the canopy a little tricky

One of those painted like a Tylenol capsule would be kinda funny, but the oil companies wouldn't be laughing..

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: My concept of an efficient family fleet involves one efficient, Prius, Insight, or FEH-sized car for kid hauling plus something like this for commuting and the times that kid hauling isn't required.

Reliability of the 1L is a concern for me, too, but I do trust VW to make it safe. If it isn't safe I'm not driving it.

Seems like you could enter it in the Olympic bobsled run too!

It does seem like it would be a great 2 seater to have.

You know if it gets street cred from the teenage and 20somethings that they would eventually install ejection seats. Rear ended no problem! Hopefully your not in a parking garage when the seat ejects go off or under power lines or in fast moving traffic or....nevermind, bad idea. - Dale

Very interesting car. One of the most interesting things to me was the Kamm truncation of the tail. I assume that a 4-5 ft. extension to form a streamlined tail would have been slightly better, but must have been ONLY slightly better. The two tail designs have been puzzling me.
