Cars built by the Big Three automakers gave off 230 million metric tons of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide in the United States in a year, more than the biggest U.S. electric utility, environmental researchers said Wednesday.

General Motors, Ford and DaimlerChrysler cars and light trucks emitted nearly three-fourths of all carbon dioxide from vehicles on U.S. roads in 2004, the year for which statistics were available, according to the watchdog group Environmental Defense

I can't help but to think this morning about this red Ford F-250 pickup truck jacked up. Every time the accelerator was pressed, you could hear the bullet muffler roar. To repeat yesterday's thought, can he keep his own farts to his cabin?

That's very misleading because it makes it sound like Mercedes is the most green of any automaker since they probably account for about 0.2% of all CO2 emitted. That's only because Mercedes sells hardly any cars here, whereas the Big 3 together have probably 70% marketshare of all vehicles still registered and running in the USA today.
