Hey all.

Owner of a 2006 Honda Accord manual. I'd been tracking per-tank fuel consumption for a few months, but I got a ScanGauge at the weekend, and I'm pretty sure I've already seen some improvement from the feedback. I want to wait until the end of the tank so I know I'm comparing apples to apples, but it's looking promising.

Anyway, I found this place because I was trying to work out why it sometimes told me I was getting 9999MPG (which I'm pretty sure I understand now), and it seems like an interesting place to hang around. I wouldn't call myself a "hypermiler", but I'm certainly interested in getting more value out of my fuel.

Actually, there's one feature of the mileage logs that would be very useful, but either doesn't exist or is cunningly hidden: I'd be very interested to see what kind of mileage other people are getting out of the same model of car. Of course, it would have to be pretty fuzzy, as different years or transmission types would provide non-zero amounts of information; but know what is commonly achieved with the car I'm driving, or what is at the very bleeding edge, would be very helpful. Am I just missing something?

So, maybe I'll see you in the forums, or something.

Hi wintermute, welcome to the site!

If you haven't already, be sure to check out Wayne's article "Beating the EPA" - the link is at the bottom of my signature.

The site is currently being reworked by member Right Lane Cruiser, so features will be added, but it will take some time. You can PM him to suggest that feature (it would be very handy). Right now, if you click the mileage logs, and hit CTRL-F, you can search for Accord and be able to see what other drivers are getting. Currently I think the highest lifetime MPG for an Accord is Wayne with over 48 MPG.

Hello and welcome to the club.

You should start by knowing your car’s EPA rating located at FuelEconomy.gov (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm) and make sure to read the article “Beating the EPA” (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1510).

Make sure you air your tires up to the maximum pressure indicated on the tire’s sidewall.

Also, consider purchasing a ScanGaugeII (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=103426). It is an invaluable source of information and will quickly pay for itself in fuel savings.

However, please be careful as hypermiling is addictive. :)

Yeah, I'll look into that, thanks ;)

More seriously, thanks for the welcome. The mileage log here looks to be a bit more useful than my Excel spreadsheet, so I'll probably hang around for that, at the least.

Huh. I just added another vehical to the log, so I can track what I get from now on, as well as my all-time numbers, and something seems to have gone wrong (http://www.cleanmpg.com/index.php?page=garage&displayunits=MPG(US)&viewuser=wintermute)...

The numbers on the badges are correct, but the actual data (both tanks and graph) seem to be swapped over. Is there something I can do to fix this that doesn't involve deleting and re-entering the data?

Thanks.

Check out my Excel sheet that I found on this site that another user had posted. I've altered it a bit more to provide even more detailed information. Disable Macros as I did not write it originally, so I simply do without them.

Sean (Right Lane Cruiser) might be able to do something, but the easiest way is to delete and reenter the data, I think.

Wintermute, PM Right Lane Cruiser, he deals with the mileage logs.

edit:Try Skwyre's advice first, Sean is busy reworking the site.

Wintermute,

Post something in the "Website" forum about this.

That is bizarre. I'm looking into it. Please don't change anything, okay?

Wintermute, I've fixed it but I had to remove the new car you had added. Please re-add it and you should be fine now.

This is due to a bug in the creation code that allows you to create two vehicles with the same default name -- I'll have to address that issue later but I've got your logs straightened out.
