View Full Version : Jerk(s) of the day! 6-24-08
ikea4532 06-25-2008, 07:25 AM OK OMG did i ever drive like this (yes i did), it totally scared me. I was driving in the city (10% of my daily drive thank GOD!) and this mad woman behind me at a light started beeping her horn at me. I thought nothing of it, and she continued to beep. beep. beep. beep. (i hope everyone got the picture, there will be more beeps!) I was not inching forward at the light. it is illegal in the state of PA to do that. (not many educated drivers actually know this. Especially the cops!) so there was a gap of about a car length ahead of me. when it was my turn to go i turned my car back on and saw that the lady was in the left lane. then she zipped back in the right lane, albeit two cars behind me. then she went back to the left lane and passed me and cut me off. right at the stop light. I did not do anything, the lady looked back at me with one of those i am going to kill you looks. after the light turned green she zipped back into the left lane and we had a little bit of a drive for the next light. she continued to drive back and forth between the two lanes, i seen here scoot ahead of a car that was ahead of me, and then scoot right ahead of a mac truck, and stop at a light. I pulled up beside her. looked at her and sad you need to calm down, she said F U and i gave her the peace sign, she gave me both birds. Wow the sight of it just made me want to cringe at my old driving style
Ok second jerk of the day. while going home from work (i am already worked up about the previous one that just happened like 15 minutes ago) i notice these two cars coming up behind me at the same speed, if there was a big enough shoulder to the right i would have pulled off. well by the time that they came to me the car in my lane slowed down just enough to not clip my drivers side bumber. then ahead of me he cuts of the vehicle that was in the left lane.
Hi IKEA:
___Is it any wonder why there are so many problems in the world? And when they pay for or run out of fuel, they will be blaming everyone but themselves :(
___Good Luck

southerncannuck 06-25-2008, 08:24 AM I have been on a streak of good luck lately with my Florida neighbors, but we are a right to carry state and that might encourage folks to be more polite.
Shiba3420 06-25-2008, 08:30 AM I'm very impressed that you ask/told her to calm down instead of just copping an attitude with her. However since she didn't rethink her position, it would have been wise to call the police and report her (if safe for you to do so). While the idea of calling the police on someone may seem agressive and rude, don't forget she is likely to get someone hurt (herself and/or innocent party), so you will be doing her (or someone) a favor. This level of agression is something police need to deal with.
HemiSync 06-25-2008, 09:44 AM I feel for you Ike A, Maybe it is the full moon. I have not had any problems lately, but yesterday I witnessed dual idiots on the same hill & light. My ride into town is 18 miles of two lane road, one of those country roads that no matter how fast you drive you will always catch up with someone up ahead. Anyways I'm doing my normal 60 mpg drive into town at the speed limit of 40-45 mph with at least 3 other vehicles that you can see ahead of me at a very safe following distance. (there is only one legal place to pass on the entire 18 miles) There are two vehicles behind me, a p/u truck and a 4 door sedan. Following close but nothing too aggressive. So we come through a small village right before town where the limit is 35, not that anyone ever slows down that much, and before you get to town there is a nice 20%+ grade hill going down to a stop light with a left turn signal for getting on a state highway. The hill is so steep that they have a right hand truck lane on the way down with a stop for them at the top. So as we are going through the village I back off the gas and slow down from 45 to 40, again the limit is 35, as we get to the hill the two vehicles behind pull over into the truck lane, blow the stop sign there, and race down the hill. Of course I am still in the normal flow of traffic with 2 vehicles in front of me and am increasing in speed on the downhill allowing my regen to do its thing with a little extra brake pedal when these smucks race past me in the truck lane. They have to cut over before the bottom or be in a right turn only lane and sure enough they cut over forcing me to hit the brakes to keep from hitting the sedan. All the while down the hill it is obvious that we are going to hit the light red. I slow down, resisting the urge to blow my horn at the idjuts, and watch as they both slam on their brakes to stop for the red light going straight. I am turning left, as I pull into the left hand turn lane, have the ultimate satisfaction of the left turn signal going green. So as I am going past the two sitting at the light without having to even begin to stop, I just wave and smile at the two of them. They guy in the p/u was busy willing the light to turn green, but the woman looked like she had just swallowed a canary. Sometimes its just the small things that make a day satisfying. ;)
ikea4532 06-25-2008, 09:57 AM ok i know it is just what america wants, people to go fast:
check it out
- the faster you go the more money that goes to the big oil companies,
- the faster you go the more likely you will get into an accident which more money goes to the big insurance companies,
- the faster you go the hareder your engine works, meaning a lot more wear and tear on it, money going to the big car companies.
THEN YOU GOT CLEANMPG WHERE THE SLOWER YOU GO WITH THE FREE ADVICE ALL AROUND YOU, MORE MONEY GOES INTO YOUR WALLET
Aether glider 06-25-2008, 11:27 AM Wow, I've never had anything like that happen since i've been hypermiling. Lucky i guess. Only thing i can think of was a few weeks ago I was on a rural divided 4lane when noone in sight. This lady in a Blue Ford Mustang (new model) pulls up beside me. I'm doing around 30 in WS and I had my windows down. She revs her engine up like she wants to race. I chuckled and then she smoked her tires for like 30 yards leaving me in a cloud of tire smoke. Not sure what that was all about. I guess the Prius looks fast ;)
Ophbalance 06-25-2008, 11:42 AM Recently, they opened up a new section on I40 to allow the Clayton traffic a new point of exodus. The upside is they added a lane specifically for traffic to merge, and I've been using this lane to roll along at 55 for the 2 miles or so that it's available. Yesterday, an Escape came flying up in my rear view hoping to pass traffic like a bat of out of hell. I really thought that she was going to be buying me a new car, RR, 4 ways, nothing seemed to let this woman know I was not going to speed up for her. She rode my !#@ for a few beats, and then swung two lanes over to join the rest of the sheeple in the left most lane.
Now, my wife always counters with "How do you know she didn't have a legitimate need to be in a hurry?". Pressing the point that it's always good to think about the situation from another point of view. Meh, that's all fine and good, but then again passing is done on the left, not in the right most lanes.

Maybe she knew you were a cop/former cop. who knows, or she was just telling you that she does not care that she is spending $4.50 a gallon on something that gets like 15 MPG's, next time tell her to slow down and just hand you a $20 bill! it would be a win win situation. HEHE
lamebums 06-25-2008, 12:07 PM I got myself a tailgater while Fas'ing down Stevenson Road, (local guys--route 236), a 30 posted speed limit through Erlanger. I got it up to 38-40 going down the hill but no matter what I couldn't get the F-150 off my butt. So I kept it in Fas a bit longer than usual. :p

Yeah, I give aggressive tailgaters the special treatment, too. A little longer and slower on my glide. Then, I smile :) and wave as they zoom past flipping me the bird.
