I have been reading about energy/fuel conservation for some time but just learned about the term "hpermiling". I am very interested in the concept and just joined the forum as a new member. I reside in the great state of Minnesota.

Hi Gordon, welcome to the site!

Check out Wayne's article "Beating the EPA" at the bottom of my signature, it's the best place to start.

Make sure your tires are pumped up to their sidewall pressure for an easy way to pick up a few MPGs and increase the life of your tires.

Consider getting a ScanGauge (Link on the left), it will give you feedback to see what works with your car.

Feel free to ask questions and get involved in the community by filling out a mileage log (Link on the left).

Hello and welcome to the club.

You should start by knowing your car’s EPA rating located at FuelEconomy.gov (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm).

As stated above, make sure to read the article “Beating the EPA” (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1510).

Make sure you air your tires up to the maximum pressure indicated on the tire’s sidewall.

Also, consider purchasing a ScanGaugeII (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=103426). It is an invaluable source of information and will quickly pay for itself in fuel savings.

However, please be careful as hypermiling is addictive. :)
