Just as the documentary, "Who Killed the Electric Car?" is coming to theatres and interest in the EV1 is rising in the general public's eye, the Smithsonian has removed the EV1 from display with no plans to exhibit it in the future.

This is strange - usually when an artist or thing leaves they put them in musuems and bulid monuments....

They are replacing it with high tech SUV. It will probably be a GM SUV, mostly like a hummer with some spinnasss. This IS truly sad.
I will never ever ever buy a GM vehicle. Their decsion making is horrible. I hope they go under and soon.

The eeeeeeeevil SUV happens to be Stanley, the AI-piloted VW Touareg built by MIT that won the DARPA Grand Challenge.

I think this truck is worthy of a spot at the Smithsonian.

www.fuelprotection.com (http://www.fuelprotection.com) - why would we need it?

Methinks there's room for Stanley and an EV1, but that could just be too practical and logical, I s'pose. ;)

For the life of me, I don't understand why GM does not try harder to promote their more fuel-efficient cars, promote hybrids and passenger diesels more, and stress "we are more than just trucks and SUVs". Sorry, but when I think about GM, it's: Hummer, Escalade, Tahoe, Suburban....anything that's got to have a 5-liter engine or larger. Maybe I'm not seeing their efforts to get past this, but it looks like GM is wishing that somehow they can float with the above mentioned models.
