On my commute to work today, I saw something that nearly brought a tear to my eye. As I was driving I noticed a brand new Toyota Yaris catching up to me (slowly). This in itself isn't a big deal - I'm seeing brand new small cars like the Yaris on a regular basis lately. While the Yaris passed me (on a four lane highway) I looked over to see who the lucky new owner was. Inside this little car is three (count em, THREE) big burly guys who looked as though they were on their way for a day at a construction site. I don't like to stereotype, but these guys to me looked like the target audience for a SuperDuty F-250. There they were, three large construction workers, CARPOOLING in a YARIS! I gave them the obligatory head nod as they went along their way. Welcome men - we're glad to have you aboard.

That reminds me of the stereotypical Geo driver: a guy who's twice as big as the car is. LOL. I'd have to see three construction workers in a Yaris.

Woot! I wish I could see that around here.
A similar event is that my coworker (who is a QA guy) with the Silverado 2500 HD has started carpooling with the guy (a programmer) that drives an i4 Tacoma up from Carson City. That's definitely a step in the right direction.

Actually a lot of big construction guys have an anti-compensation thing going on where they think driving a small car, purple truck, or having a Village People ring tone proves that they're macho because they can pull that off without taking crap. :p
Hi Killer:
___Thanks for posting as that is indeed a step in the right direction! In fact, on a mpg per person basis, they were probably one of the most efficient group of drivers in the state at the time you saw them. Great job and two thumbs up for those three indeed!
___Good Luck

That's even better than the tow truck driver/owner I met this week. He managed to snag an Insight for an unbelievable low price. The tow truck driver goes to the grocery & runs errands in the 60+mpg Insight!

In defense of the heavy duty truck drivers, not all of them are over compensating for a short coming. Some truly need such a heavy duty vehicle. One of my coworkers drives a big Silverado fully loaded in the mechanical side. He needs it because he also has acres of farm land he uses for hay to sell for livestock as well as to pull his trailer to haul his tractors (notice the plural).

But, its more fun to talk about Jerks since their IQ is a bit low.
