Howdy all! The forum genie keeps telling me I should post in the Introductions forum so here I am.
I'm Dave and live in the desert of Southern California (Ridgecrest if you know where that is). My main ride is my 2008 Civic Si Sedan to which I've done some modifications to and can get mid 30s MPG city and upper 30s to low 40s on the highway with some mild hypermiling techniques such as neutral coasting. Otherwise I just anticipate the road ahead and I'm generally able to do pretty well considering the Si begs to be reved towards it's 8600 RPM fuel cut off and isn't designed with economy as the first consideration. At 5184 miles I've seen a lifetime MPG of 33.
My other vehicle is a 2005 CR-V EX Auto (my wife's daily driver). Unfortunately with most starts being cold starts and everything around town being within 5 miles we average about 20 MPG in city driving only. We can generally do 28+ MPG on the highway with no hypermiling, just anticipating traffic and roads. At 19444 miles the lifetime MPG is 24.
Hopefully on CleanMPG I'll learn more about all aspects of vehicle efficiency to better help me make prudent decisions regarding vehicle operation and ownership while sharing my experience and knowledge.
