Not very fuel efficient but very fun. 38 miles for 10 gallons of gas. 1.42 gallons per hours which is pretty good. I could do alot better by not letting the engine idle.
About $6 an hour to run it.

Hell yeah, I always wanted a boat. One of these days I'll have one.

I remember one of my friends was saying people that are into driving fast love boats cause there's no speed limit out on the lakes.

I couldn't imagine how bad FE those Mastercraft boats get. They sound wicked, has to be a large block V8. Mine just has a 4 cylinder mercruiser.

Yeah, but figure an entire day of fun for several people costs what? $30? Maybe $40? Pretty good for today's prices.

Where is the section on hypermiling my boat and jet airplane?

The critter at speed (well, OK, "speed").

That's me in 2 seat, trying got keep up with everyone else. We set fastest time, passed 5 of the 6 boats that started ahead of us, and caught the 6th at the line. This type of racing is based on time, so you start 15 seconds apart and typically go for 5km = 3 miles, which takes about 17 minutes. Results are age-handicapped, which is why fossils like me are desirable.

Olympic racing is 6 lanes side by side, 2km = 1.2 miles.

The lady sitting at bow (and steering the boat) is in Beijing right now, in the 3 seat of the US Women's Quad. They made the final. Jen is a wonderful person (did this race with us as a favor) so please wish her well!!

Hi John:

___When Jen gets back, give her a warm welcome hug and a huge thank you from me if you would please! Actually being able to ride with an Olympic rower must have been a special experience!

yeah that would be fun just sitting in the water. There is no wind to speak of here.

Just high rock walls on both sides. Very small amount of current. We do canoe and kayak as well. Just yesterday.

You can hypermile a boat. I've doubled my original 3.8 mpg up to 7.9 MPG now. Same basic stuff as hypermiling your car.
-General maintenance
-trimming the motor to the optimum lvl to efficiently move through the water.
- (this is the biggest one) Don't idle for more than 30 seconds. I usually start counting when i get to 15 seconds i kill the engine. It takes passengers sOOOOOO long to get theirselves and stuff in the boat. No sense idling at the dock waiting on them.
-People pack all kinds of unnecessary stuff in their boat just like they do in their car trunks. All you really need is an anchor, life vest, wakeboards, rope, and cooler.
-Dont overload the boat with alot of people.
-Dont carry around water in the bottom of the boat. Bilge it out. It weighs alot.
-Go as slow as your passengers will let you. Most women don't want to go fast anyway. Can't hear each other and the wind messes up their hair.
-You do need to get the boat on plane as soon as possible so a decent acceleration is necessary. Once it planes out reduce your speed to above dropping off plane.
-One thing i've noticed is a sterndrives ability to heat up nearly immediately. I guess since its over 90+ degrees, enclosed motor they heat up quick.
- Make sure your prop is in good shape to. If its missing chunks out of blades your not efficiently moving through the water. Get a new prop.
- this is common sense. Don't hit objects in the water for obvious reasons plus they slow you down.
