Hey all, just saying hi!
I found this site from a link on another automotive forum because of the Scangauge info available here. This looks like a great place that may save me some money! I didn't even know that hypermiling existed until I came here.
My round trip to/from work is 82 miles a day. I recently bought a Scangauge because of the transmssion temp gauge (which doesn't work with my vehicle ), but now I'm interested in improving my MPG.
Here's my first trip results from the "current" mpg on the way home from work...
The vehicle: 1997 Explorer 5.0 V8 AWD. Weighs 4,880 pounds. 183,xxx miles on it. EPA 15 combined with 14/18 city/highway. Cruise control was set on 65 mph. 80* outside temperature.
19.1 MPG
57 mph avg
65 mph max
.7 hr
2,146 rpm max
41.9 miles
207* f max
2.19 gallons
I've got a lot of reading to do, and maybe I can pick up a mpg or three. I'm impressed so far with the Explorer mileage, but my '08 PT Cruiser has me less than happy with it's miserable mileage. I'm scared to even try the sgII in my '96 Suburban
:D
