Just to fire up the discussion about US car makers keeping the high-mpg cars away from their home market:

Some translations:

"Americans can choose among gas engines from 2.4 to 3.5 litres, but most attractiive for import to Norway will be the 2.0 litre/140 horsepower diesel with engine manufactured by VW"

"6-shift manual transmission will be standard, but as an alternative the car can be delivered with a new electronically operated Getrag MPS6 dual-clutch transmission"

"Accessories that we take for granted, but are not as common in the USA, are standard on the Journey. This includes airbags for all the passengers, disk brakes with ABS on all wheels, standard ESP and anti-rollover. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive can be specified."

well - at least they have the drivetrain down by 2010, we can pay that Dodge will be offering smaller engines in its cars in the US

GM also has this problem - they sell a perfectly good Station Wagon (Buick brand) with a high MPG engine in China (one of my collegues drove me around in his when I was on a biz trip there) - I bet it gets 40 MPG easy - it would sell like hotcakes here
