I've been using the Hypermiling tactics for three days now, mostly P&G, keeping the A/C off, and just driving slower in the 45 - 55 range on the highway. My commute, which has a bunch of freeway driving, yielded some amazing results last night. I drive a Lexus ES300, which has an EPA rating of about 22 - 23 MPG on the highway...not so hot. Yesterday, my trip computer told me when I exited the highway that my MPG had sky-rocketed up to an average of 38.1 MPG! My eyes almost popped out of my head. I couldn't believe it. Does any one think that I could push 40.00 MPG in a Lexus? That would be cool.

40 is pushing it with a 3L V6 and automatic. For individual trips, sure. Over a tank will be a challenge.
Go for it. I like a challenge. :D

Hi and welcome to the club as those are some great numbers. You may want to start with this article (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1510) if you haven't already read through it.
Also, make sure your tires are aired up to the maximum pressure indicated on the tire’s sidewall.

Way to go!! All it takes is 1 tank and you get hooked!! I've noticed it doesnt take much. A car like yours should yield good results. Have you pumped up your tires yet?? If you haven't yet, do so. It could give you the extra 2 mpg you're lookin for. Look at max sidewall pressure and take it up to that. Good luck!!

Great work Wagnor70! I just checked the Mileage Logs and the best Lexus ES300s are 3 folks at 28 mpg. You should add your numbers to the log when you fill up. Here's the "how to" --> http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5095
Hi Wagoner70:
___Of course it works :D I also cannot wait until you pop over 40 ;)
___The next time I am in LA, I hope we can meet in person because I can tell already you are going to be a hit with the crew here at CleanMPG!
___And thanks for your story! Given the vehicle you drive, it is really not about the money and that means the alternate reasons for pulling the great number you did last night as are just important to you as they are to the rest of us!
___Keep up the great work for all our sakes and Good Luck
