"An ordinance unanimously adopted by Malibu's City Council this week will soon make plastic bags a thing of the past among its 13,000 residents and four supermarkets."
Banning plastic bags in a small city like Malibu doesn't sound like a lot, but considering the average American uses 600 plastic bags a year it can make a difference.
I have several canvas bags & non-woven bags that I've picked up at conferences or rec'd as gifts. If I keep them in the car, they are available when I stop to get groceries. I'm using my "collection" of plastic bags to line wastebaskets and to pick up after the dogs.
