Hello Chuck- I finally decided to come over and see what it's all about. Mainly since I got rid of my HCH and picked up the Matrix everyone I have actual visual contact seems to get really annoyed when all I talk about is how to get better mileage. :D

Things of note. I FINALLY got a Scangauge since they came out with the Scangauge II. I LOVE IT!!! Just got it the other day about 50 miles after I filled up  but ran it anyway and ajusted the tank today when I filled up again. Anyway, my "calculated" mileage ended up being 40.5MPG!!!!! An all time high and almost a 3MPG over my best! The best thing about it is I used th eA/C quite a bit for that tank too plus got stuck in traffic a lot.

The Wazabi has been sitting lately  The Matrix is working like a small SUV for me, I'm super happy with it since my car note is hundreds and hundreds of $$$ less and I'm not taking too much of a hit on MPG compared to my HCH. Overall, I'm very happy.

I'm glad to be here and maybe I'll lay off of the emoticons a bit. Sorry I didn't use any colored fonts, I'll change that in the future as well as the font size. (just kidding)

Hi Wazabi:

___Welcome to CleanMPG! Once a hybrid driver, always a hybrid driver I always say. Including when you are not driving the Insight :D

___40 + from a Matrix in traffic w/ A/C is pretty hot and I look forward to your future exploits with it. Is this a 2005 w/ a 5-speed rated at 30/36 or something else?

___On a completely different note, how did you hear about us?

___Finally, you have to look up some of Tigerhonaker’s posts. He can make the most ugly duckling of a post a swan (or is it the other way around ;)) given his knack of dressing up just about everything he posts with smilies, large fonts, and colors!

___Good Luck and welcome again.

The Matrix is a 2003 with an auto trans. Rated 27/33.

Actually a while back I was wondering where you went and then the thread on GH popped up wondering where you went . I never got a chance to come over so I decided to take a look earlier this week. We've had some discussions before and I've always enjoyed your writings so I decided to join. I have a different handle at GH since I never figured out to moderatorlessly (is that a word? ) change my handle.

Yes, actually that is what I was taking a jab at since I know he'll be reading this thread eventually. I rememebr the thread well that mentioned the font sizes and colors.

Oh, on another note.....I always keep my Enya CD in the changer and it may just have been that music that popped me over that 40MPG mark with the Matrix today. I still get annoyed at when I hold up traffic even though I'm doing 3 mph OVER the speed limit. Figured out a solution today - adjust the read view mirror so I don't see them. I'll only do that when the windows are down so I can hear emergency vehicles.

Thanks for the warm welcome Wayne as we'll see how well I can watch my mileage go up up up.

Hi Wazabi:

___You found out my secret! It is an Enya CD that actually really resides in my hypermiling tool box and everything else is just a crutch :D I wonder if I can pick up some of the residuals on increased sales of Enya CD’s in the not to distant future

___I was asking some of the guys in Chat last night or the night before about your handle. I said I have seen your nick in the past but I could not for the life of me remember where? A little googling and you showed up in all the same spots I hang out (or should I say used to hang out at ;)).

___Good Luck and it is my pleasure to be hearing from you again!

I KNEW there was something to the stars&planets effect.
OK let's see....turn key, cue up "Orinoco Flow", get 70mpg....it's going in the article. :D

This is a reminder to play her latest album....

....I think a favorite of the GearHeads would be the TopGun theme - Danger Zone.

On a sadder note, I broke out the Insight for the first time in a week and got an instant RECAL (within a half mile of leaving the house). Once I got it charging back up they started playing the Ramones. NOT recommended hypermiling music, 22 mile segment ended with 59 MPG and speeds I will not quote here :( On the return trip I was able to squeeze around 84 MPG to make up for the speed demon in me that was begging to be released for a while.

Note to self, no more Ramones (one of my favorite bands). I'll stick to NPR from now on.

wow, it's great to hear you guys like enya, guess i always thought that she was more of a "girl's" singer, and i am happy to stand corrected. i have always like her stuff, and never thought to use it for hypermiling. it would sure take the edge off a trip to minneapolis on i-94....or increase the peacefulness of my back roads drives home.....way to go, guys :)

Hey Terry, handle was Rigger :D

I wanted to change it a long time ago. Wazabi is a lot better and now my car has a reputation around here. Since I got the new vanity plate I've had several come up and say "Are you the guy that owns Wazabi?" Then they start asking mileage tips etc. Pretty cool.

I'm sure I'll enjoy it over here.

I could comment on a number of Enya's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enya) pieces:

The Memory of Trees (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Memory_of_Trees) is a title that sort of strikes a positive nerve with me. I grew up in the Piney Woods of East Texas, then moved to Dallas, which has few. :(
Carribban Blue is one of my favorites
Aldebaran off her first album to me seems like an audio picture of Heaven - very beautiful
Sure enough, it was Enya that was in Lord of the Rings soundtrack. To me, it's a tossup as to which Irish group is the greatest - Enya or U2.

Hi :) Use-to-Be, Rigger

Say just a (thought) but have you considered taking a Close-Up Pic of your lic. plate and use it for your Sig? Exam: ISAVGAS which is my lic. plate.

Just a thought. ;) Man Love those Fonts and Colors:

YES I did consider that Terry, it's just a matter of time for me to do it though. For the most part I'm very busy nowadays with limited "spare" time. Over the last month or so I've been working on my dream of getting a little house in the country. Now I spend all my time working out on the property and prepping my old property for the next owner.
