I had a diving trip last Friday and there was tons of hills on the route I picked so my close brush with the big six-zero was not to be. Only 57.9 for this tank. Oh well. With a trip to Shell, we start the game one more time ;)

Hi Sledge:

___Only 59.7? There must be something wrong with your car ;)

___Nice job on the segment and if there is anything we can do to help, just ask … Are you still running the OEM oil?

___Good Luck

Not 59.7. 57.9. Not quite as good :p

Yes I'm still running the OEM oil. I'm going to switch to synthetic 0w20 and a decent oil filter (M1 probably).

Hi Sledge:

___Must be the 8.5 hours of sleep over the past 3 days causing my Dyslexia :( 57.9 mpg is not bad either :D

___When you are ready to purchase that oil filter, Champion Labs makes the M1, STP, Bosch, and SuperTech filters. The M1 uses an all-synthetic media and the highest resultant DP. The others use a semi-synthetic media (still much better then most everything else) I have read about. I use the Walmart procured Supertech’s for $2.07 myself.

What is "DP"? Is a high DP good?

Hi Sledge:

___DP (Delta P) is Pressure in - Pressure out. (Pi – Po = DP). A High DP results in less flow through the media. As DP builds, it can have the effect of pulling more contaminants out of the influent stream (this is a good thing) but once it begins to restrict flow above the set point of the Bypass valve’s spring, then there can be a problem. Usually the bypass will open up and you have little if any cleansing of the stream after that maximum DP is reached. The M1 is a great filter but has a higher DP then the other 3 mentioned both at beginning of life and end of life from the reports I have seen in the distant past. IIRC, there are 2 sizes of the M1 that will fit many automobiles. If the larger fits, purchase it instead as the larger surface area should lessen the chance that a High DP would cause the filters bypass from opening up prematurely during an extended interval change. Other oil flow paths exist but having all the flow through the filter itself bypassed means no cleansing.

On the bright side, it's warm weather and easier to beat it...
