Just curious if anyone has had any luck finding that IGN sweet spot with a normal IC engine.
All I have been watching on my SG1 is the GPH gauge and TPS to maximize the mpg's.
I never thought about using the IGN setting for fuel economy.

SHM seems to be a really odd combination of gearing specific to the Prius -- it ends up using the engine in the 1200-1400RPM range when driving at 50mph. I don't think such a combination exists in any other vehicle?

Though it might be measured and implemented differently, couldn't highway-speed DWL be considered a generic SHM?

I'm not exactly sure how SHM would work in my car. I've tried getting the ignition timing down, but in order to do so I had to leave the throttle really wide open.

'Hang Time' is what you want to give a try at, it seems to work in my 96 Ranger... well enough that it gives me an alternative route that I run 'hang time' and DWL and break 40 mpg.
