Does anyone have experience hypermiling with a CVT (continuously variable transmission)? Some friends of mine recently bought Nissan Altimas with 4 cylinder engines and CVT, and I'd like to know what sort of mileage is possible with them. I didn't see any listed in the mileage logs, though.

Some Insights are cvt, some civic hybrids (hch-I) are, all hch-II are (2006+), and all Prius(es) are.

The first and best technique is to work the gas pedal to keep the rpm low. Then leave a buffer and anticipate way ahead for traffic lights and other conditions. Then DWL - like a roller coaster - slower on the uphill, faster on the downhill.
