View Full Version : Mounting SG-II

I have been trying to figure a better way to mount my SG on my steering-colum.The Blendmount you can purchase separately looks sorta nice, but is over-priced.I also don't like the idea of having to move my eyes to the right and up somewhat to read 4 gauges at a time while driving down the road!
I'm presently using the velcro tape that comes with SG and I mounted SG on top of my steering-colum which seems to be the ideal place for me.The wire is run between the dash and the steering colum and it doesn't look tacky at-all.
The problem I'm having is the hot FL sun is heating up the car too much during the day even with SG covered-up with a white towell the adhesive on the back of the velcro tape softens and the SG lays down on its' back-side on my steering-colum and it really *#^*$s me-off.
I'm hoping someone can give me a better idea to mount SG on my steering-colum and still make easy to remove SG.I do not want to drill holes or plaster glue on my steering-colum.I would rather glue some sort of small bracket to SG then attach the bracket to the steering-colum maybe using plastic zip-ties wrapped around the steering colum and just slide the bracket out from under the zip-ties to remove SG.Anyone that may have a solution, better idea to my problem please post it.
Thanks,Jerry

I have mine on top of the dash, not on the steering column. That way I can reach it while driving. It's also more inline with viewing the road. :p

Do you have a reflective windshield visor? It'll help a bunch with the heat.
