This is a double post from elsewhere but I thought I should include it in the Ford section also.
I bought my Focus new. Ive always driven it pretty slow. The mods are CAI, headers and SVT exhaust.
It now has 237,000 miles with no major issues yet! Still the stock clutch LOL.
Before hypermiling I averaged 32 city/highway driving or 35 pure highway.
I recently have been learning more and more about hypermiling. So I bought a Scan Gauge. Now my driving is more of an adventure then being bored!
So the first tank with the scan gauge and not changing any of my driving habits yielded 36mpg on the dot. I did this to see how close the scan gauge was to my logged figures. Very close!
Second tank I began utilizing more coasting, average highway speed was 62mph and drafting larger vehicles ( though not to close ). This gave me a combined 38.4 mpg city/highway.
Third tank was pure highway, taking a weekend trip at 62mph=44.1 mpg! Yippeeeee
Fourth tank raised tire pressure to 40lbs and became more adept at short shifting and coasting up to lights. This gave me 40.2 city/highway!
