I just signed up, so I guess I will be searching on the reasons for the migration of GH members ... which I had been m.i.a. from for the last 4-6 months. I used my car name for this s.n. because I liked it better ;) but I was bluesesshomaru17 on the other forum ... Thanks to Tigerhonaker for the referral to this site, I could only assume that the buyout might have had something to do with this new site? Anyway, I like the colors on this one better!!! :p ok, time to browse through the forums :D

Hi Sakaboto:

___I remember seeing your old nick and even replying to your posts more then a few times in the past! With that, welcome to CleanMPG! I hope you find the discussion and camaraderie every bit as good as you found over at GH. As usual, I tend to push members and their automobiles to their capabilities a little harder then elsewhere but believe you will find the experience to your liking ;)

___Good Luck and welcome to our as yet to be completed - home away from home.

___Wayne

Hi Shaun, (Sakabato)

I see you made it over here. I'm glad I sent you that PM many months ago and you have had the time now to respond.

I usually do-not check on many members when they just disappear, but in your case I was kinda concerned that you just dropped off the face of the planet.

I think you will enjoy this Forum because it is for all (Owners-of-any Vehicle) that want to improve their FE (Fuel Economy).

Enjoy the (Threads) and look forward to seeing your name show up here. (Shaun).

How about adding it to (Your-Signature) so we know it's (You). Or if you like you can use your same name that you had on the other "Forum". It would be easier for us to know it's (You). ;)

ok, so this is made more for all, no matter what you drive. That makes sense. Inherently GreenHybrid gives off an aire of exclusivity (hybrid owners), even though there were non-hybrids in the community. It looks great even in it's infancy. Thank you for welcoming me back so warmly. I have made all the major changes I needed to do for now, so I don't forsee another disappearance :p Congrats on over 50 mpg on your first reading tiger :D

Shawn,

I'm glad you did not end up like Jimmy Hoffa. :D

This forum is serious about fuel economy. I know other sites (hint) have dissed that, but look what has happened? The alternative is to be like many other automotive boards with GearHeads that "Have The Need to Speed" - they are a dime a dozen. CleanMPG can grow because we promote something few car sites advocate - going farther on a gallon of fuel. :)

Yeah, there are too many NFL stadiums for Mythbusters to look for my body here (Dolphins, Buccaneers, Jaguars) :p

I used to have that need for speed, but I get it from my PS2 games now (I even own an Insight on Gran Turismo 4  ), not on the roads. R.I.P. my first loves 75 Pontiac GrandVille convertible, Trans Am Firehawk, and 86-93 RX-7s :'(

CVT's have a place, it is just second behind a MT :D my right arm is getting quite bored just hanging on the steering wheel or resting on the shifter with no tasks at hand, hehe ... who wants shift lights on thier guage panel anyway :) I will say the CVT grows on you (and if you ever hurt one of your legs, still easily driveable). And I would like to experience the difference between mine and the new and improved one ... maybe next year ... maybe sooner

Shaun,

From your comment above:

That did happen to me many months ago. Infact now it has been over a year ago and I could not use my left leg to push the clutch-down and then ease the clutch back up for a smooth take off from a stop. The Nerve that goes down from your hip to your leg was pinched and I had a major problem. I decided right then that the manual was over for me and I can tell you until one actually drives a CVT HCH II or one of the other CVT Vehicles you cannot imagine how very smooth the CVT Trans. is. I want being going back ever. (Fingers-Crossed). I guess one should Never-Ever-Say- {NEVER}. :p

The CVT Trans. is Great in my opinion (IMO). It goes without saying I am referring to driving and not Racing. I should also mention, in very Heavy-Traffic and Stop and Go interstates.

Terry

BTW, Sold-ON-CVT Trans. Convert here

Terry,

Sorry to hear about the pinched nerve (OUCH!). I actually find the IMA system matched with the CVT to mimic a (albeit slow) turbo stick shift. You have a (slight) lag, then the assist (boost) kicks in, and regeneration simulates the deceleration of leaving the car in gear. I will always miss a MT, but I might be over them for daily driving as well after thinking about it. I couldn't imagine trying to use a clutch in your prior situation. I have had a severe back problem before, so I know how debilitating such a pain can be. A sports car, definitely a 5 or 6-speed. But now, having a transmission that shifts at all ... seems a little passé  ;) :p
