    Hi All:

___Just to add to Jess’s thread, he is planning to bring his Prius-I to the next Milwaukee Hybrid Group meet in February. Hopefully all goes as planned and you can actually see it there!

    ___Way to go Jesse!

About 700 miles under 350k this morning. Got back from the battery beach burnout in Miami FL Sunday nite. Same batteries. Still going strong. Pic coming soon when I hit 350k in the next few days.

Congrats on the 350K miles. I guess conservation is not the goal.....

    Hi All:

___Although the details are sketchy, Jesse appears to be ok (he sounded ok but a little animated when I spoke with him on the phone a few minutes ago) which is the most important thing. Let us just say the Prius gave up its life at 349,500 + miles so that Jesse could keep his. All because of a 17 year old punk driving a junk :ccry:

___Jesse promised to check in to update everyone on his and his infamous Prius’ status in short order …

    ___Good Luck

And it had such a long life ahead of it. :(

Joking aside, I, too, am glad that Jesse is OK.

January 30th, 6:59 pm EST. I was driving west on state highway 139 in Randolph MA. I was approaching the intersection of hwy 28 and the light was green. Unfortunately at the last possible second, a 17 year old in a 1994 Mercury Sable failed to yield and made a hard left in front of my car. He was going pretty fast and there was nothing I could do. Both airbags deployed like they were supposed to and the combination of that and the seatbelt allowed me to walk away without a scratch. The triangle came on instantly and the engine died. Amazingly the stereo was still playing my favorite band Social Distortion. I got out of the car and the kid apologized and I explained what he did wrong and then called the police. He was issued a citation for failure to yield. His vehicle was towed from the scene as well. Fortunately I was near my friends house and I was picked up shortly after in the 2005 escape-hybrid he had just purchased less than two weeks earlier. I am very dissapointed but I am happy to be alive and uninjured. I will be linking the damage photographs as well as a final odometer pic in the next few days.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Jesse! I've only been in one accident (hit by a police car) and I'll never forget it. We are all very VERY relieved you are okay! The high mileage Prius was a big loss, but replaceable. YOU are not replaceable!

I hope that you can find another vehicle to serve you as well as this one did. Good luck and may you continue to be watched over by the big guy above!!!

Oh, man, that *sucks*! Less than 500 shy of the big 350, too!
I assume it's totaled? Does that kid realize exactly what he
ruined? I've been through that area quite a bit myself, on
visits to ALPS for supplies, and there does seem to be a high
    quotient of clueless around there.
    .
Hard to believe. I mean, you just went all the way to FL and
back !again! and then this happens basically in your backyard...

Oh Jesse I am so sad for the car but glad you are OK. It figures that one of our own idiot drivers would do this. I would be so angry if I were in your shoes and have to keep telling myself that he didn't do it intentionally.

Keep us posted on how YOU are doing too!

Hey Jesse, I'm glad you are okay. What a loss. Hoping to look on the bright side - maybe it's an opportunity to get a new Prius?

    Hang in there.

    Thanks,

    Bob

Jesse, thanks for making your Prius longevity so public. It's been helpful to counter the "what about the battery" types. You know 'em.

Glad you're fine. Oh it's a shame she's no more, but maybe she's still salvageable by you or someone willing to buy for the cause? :)

Someone should buy & restore it if for no other reason than to get her up to 379,000, snap a photo, send to Art Spinella with a note that says "you're right!.......the Prius does get up to 379,000......wait a minute, wrong car......my apologies."

At the very least let's have a wake for this beauty.

As a former Mass resident let me say how impressed I am you made it past 50k miles without getting side swiped by some punk Randolph HS Celtics fan. ;)

    Jesse -

Condolenced from all of us here at at StarFleet, and relief that you are unhurt.

Sad to hear about the car. I was hoping to share a few more shows in its awesome presence. Maybe its not over if she can be fixed.

Re: “Ride of the week” – August 1, 2007.

I tried to start the car yesterday but all I got was a glimmer of electrical noise and thats it. The airbags also deployed and the front of the car is devastated. Fluids were leaking everywhere. However the batteries should still be good. Is there anyone who might be able to pull the batteries out? I suspect the engine is toast but I suppose you never know. Maybe there is someone out there who could ressurect the car.....
I am currently driving a 2008 rented prius through insurance.
