4 deg F in Elk Grove today. It snowed about an inch last night
but I got out of my driveway without trouble , Bill. The Prius was fighting
for traction and speeds were low , glides ( ?) short.
    35.3 miles , fcd = 47.3 x .943 = 44.6 MPG.

I know the way to work pretty well. Off-camber downhill turns are best
negotiated with caution. This has been true with all of my cars , but especially
the Civic Si , which came with summer tires (!?!).

    Dead right!
We’ve had a cold snap lately and we still have snow on the ground.
Went for a dog walk round a nearby lake this afternoon and it was almost totally frozen! According to weather forecast it was 30F and feels like 18F in the wind

Yes, London is 2.5degrees(172miles) further north than the 49degree border between western US & Canada. Its only winter “warm” because its on the Atlantic Ocean with the Gulf Stream bringing tropical heat towards it. Mid-Denmark is north of 56degree latitude. Moscow is almost 55.8degrees latitude, way away from warming oceans. Arkhangel’sk, Russia, only 4.5degrees further north of 60degree latitude St. Petersburg, is next to a Sea, leading to the Arctic Ocean. The far north winter is why both Napoleon & Hitler were defeated by Russian cold.

Had my first dose today. Didn't feel hardly anything, and no adverse reaction yet. I took the Camry today, out on the highway MPG is much better than in the city, the MPG meter maxes out at 40 (wish it maxed out at 60 like the hybrids do) because anytime at highway speeds and cruising, I don't actually know what MPG I'm getting because the gauges are maxed out! Brought the average fuel economy over 55 miles to 30.4 MPG. So, 13.6% highway driving. Still loving the car. Wish the Camry had auto stop-start, but Toyota has always been a bit behind on adding that to their vehicles, just like Honda. One reason to like the 2021 Accord over a similar Camry!

Today in the Prius , coming from Glenview.
Temp is minus one deg F in Elk Grove.
Got an inch or so of white stuff on the cars and roads.
10.0 miles, fcd = not so good.

Today in the Prius ( again ) because the Civic is snowed in. ( translation : I was too lazy to shovel the entire driveway.)
But I was able to put Prius in the garage last night. :)
    8 deg F in Elk Grove , 35.5 miles , fcd = 53.8 x .943 = 50.7 MPG.
Staying in Glenview tonight , maybe I can dig out the Civic Thursday after work.

Today it is 17 deg F in Elk Grove. A light snow , less than an inch , didn't really hurt
    too much. 10.1 miles , fcd = 50.5 x .943 = 47.6 MPG.

I can use that in deg F right about now. :D

2" dusting of snow last night and another couple tonight. Just flurries all day. I gave the solar panes a couple of thumps and the snow slid right off. One of the benefits of ground mounts; much easier access other than having to make one's way through deep snow at times. My snowshoe trampled path from the last storm held firm so my boots and gaiters were all that was needed.

Nice ! If/when we have cycling weather again , I'd probably be thrilled to do 62-40 = 22 miles.
That's about all my 68-year-old ass , knees , and hands can handle.

UGH! You’re at the latitude of Mt.Kimble, Unalaska Is, in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska! You’re too far north.
However, there is a point on Unalaska Is. named Cape Cheerful. So maybe, you’re OK.

Today I'm in the Civic. 3 deg F in Elk Grove , clean dry roads.
    35.1 miles , fcd = 38.0 MPG.
I'm wondering why I bought this thirsty inefficient car.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. In the summer I was averaging
    close to 50 MPG. Sigh.

All in the morning? Considering your latitude and the season, that must've been an early start, or you're fast, or both.
I biked 42.3 miles yesterday, but only partially in the morning.

Thanks RedylC94. It was a slower one for me as it involved a bit of elevation gain totalling 3241ft over the 62.35miles. I set off at 8:08 and it took me just under 3hrs 42mins at an average speed of 16.9mph :D

^^ Impressive , especially for that much elevation gain, and in winter.
