Crap. But I don't think ANYONE has a Porsche as their only vehicle , and in my ( fantasy ) world
I would also have a diesel AWD 6MT station wagon. Brown , of course.

    Hi All:

It is getting worse. The all-electric 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S - do not ask why Porsche adds turbo to the moniker??? - is being offered with an even shorter 192 mile AER.

Is it possible that Porsche owners are morons ?
I hope not , I'd like to have one. But they are not great at BEV's.
Make mine a 718 Cayman S. No turbo in the name , but it IS turbocharged.

Then, the rich person can get a new one(more "free" electricity?). The poorer second-hand three year old Taycan buyer, can pay for his own Taycan electricity... AND the electricity for the rich Taycan owner.

    Hi Litesong:

Given the upfront cost of the really sharp looking 20202 Porsche Taycan, there is nothing free about this. Same as the Tesla Model S and its free "fuel" from the SuperChargers. Tesla is not giving that away, the cost was built into the upfront price.

Inside and out, the Taycan is indeed a class above.

The minimalist instrument panel has an ultra-modern design. The free-standing, curved instrument cluster is focused towards the driver and consists of a curved 16.8-inch screen with the rounded look typical of Porsche. A cowl has been omitted, ensuring a slim appearance.

The gov't subsidies are set up for rich people of which poor people have neither the money to pay for EVs AND ALSO don't have the yearly wages to even take advantage of the subsidies. As far as the "free" electricity, it is free to the rich AND NOT accessible to the poor. To say these "freebies" aren't free to the rich, is a major slap to the poor, who can't get the freebies in anyway, no way, AND no how.

    Marie Antoinette to ya! ;)
P.S. I knew a Marie Antoinette once. Unlike her namesake, she held her poor siblings (& others?) together as best she could.

    Hi Litesong:

While I am a fan of helping the poor, I have seen many times, lower income individuals reaching to buy a Volt, Bolt, or Tesla without an understanding of total costs, tax consequences, or even electricity costs to own and operate a PHEV/BEV. Most new vehicles on the road are purchased with 6 to 8-year out loans, are upside down for most if not all the vehicles life, and costs tens of thousands more than the owners had anticipated when they signed up for the new bright and shiny new vehicle for their garage or drive. That is not the fault of you, I, or the Government. Far more std. ICE equipped vehicles are wrapped up in this "payment forever" scam than HEV/PHEV/BEVs are.

    IHTHs?

Defense of policies supporting the rich, by tromping on the poor, is no way to stop the wild ragings of the rich (give me more) & their suppression of the poor(give them less). In every collapsing society, the poor will have their way with the rich who cannot feel the death throbs of the poor.

    Hi Litesong:

While all of that may be true, Tesla's Federal Tax credit is gone. GM has until March 31 with a $1,875 tax credit left. Nissan is only a year or two out as is Ford. It did help move PHEVs and BEVs so there was a benefit to reduce our addiction to oil. Just not enough.

I purchased a Gen 1 Prius PHEV because of the Tax credit. My parents purchased a Prius Prime because of the Tax credit. I am still considering a 2020 Prius Prime as my own but only because of the tax credit. Without it, it would not even be a consideration.

Am I rich? I have savings but my yearly earnings are less than most. IHTHs?

Chevy wants me to buy another Bolt, so I get an email. In it, I noticed the Fed tax credit was down as you mentioned. However, Chevy's putting a lot of $$ on the hood to move the cars, so the lesser tax credit is made up a bit by the other incentives. 0% 72 month loan + $5000 cash allowance or $8500 cash allowance *and* $1330 below MSRP. Still not as nice a deal as when I bought in early 2018 when including tax incentives.

    Hi Bill:

Given the high MSRP of the Bolt and Volt, I always suspected GM was piling on so they could charge a lot more - essentially to collect the Tax credit for themselves - and owners still paying a hefty sum while experiencing a break with the tax credit. I think they are all doing this in some regard even today. Kona Electric SEL vs Kona SEL/SEL Plus at $37,190 and $21,200/$22,950 respectively. Lose the ICE, cooling and exhaust, add a large motor, 64 kWh battery for $6000, and Inverter. Does it really cost $8 to $9k more for a motor and inverter minus the ICE and its own HW?

What's not to like about the 2020 Porsche Taycan BEV? If you ask about the price, just enjoy the eye candy and dream of driving it up Highway 1 on the Pacific Coast of California. You know, where it is always sunny, warm, and a joy to be alive while behind the wheel of this 800V super electric.

It looks as good in person as it does in print.

For people who don't make as much as you, the deal is better than any tax incentives (bribes).
Tesla has done similarly with their reducing tax bribes. When all the tax bribes are gone, maybe I'll be able to afford an EV....... no, I still won't be able to work one.

I just watched a video comparing efficiency of the Model S vs Taycan on the highway. The Taycan used about 10% more energy per mile than the Model S did. The Model S estimated range was 264 miles, and the Taycan estimated range was 234 miles.

    Hi Mike:

That was actually cool to watch. Near the end, it appears they broke the EPA range by 16 percent at 74 mph minus the turtle mode at the end.

It was also great to see that 250 kW going in. I wish they dwelled on that from what percent to what percent (SoC) was it holding at 250 kW. Very important detail and I will look around for a charging curve at varying temps to see what can be pulled from it.

The Taycan is nice , but it's pointless.
A Boxster or Cayman is a LOT more fun.
    For a LOT less money.
And litesong , the world runs on bribes.

Pointless? It is the quickest car they build, I think. And it certainly is the most efficient, ever.
