Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price is up a chunky 26.9¢ (+11.1%) since last month at $2.629 - this time last year it was $2.657 so it's now only 2.8¢ (-1.2%) cheaper.
Diesel has breached $3 again its only up 4.1¢ (+1.4%) at $3.028. It's 5.9¢ (+2.0%) dearer than this time last year.

Diesel premium to regular continues to reduce - its now only 12.5% more per gallon.
    E85 is up 20.1¢ (+9.3%) to $2.361 - a year ago it was $2.241 so 12¢ (+5.4%) dearer.

Today . 45 deg , light rain all the way in , still had many glide ops.
    16.3 miles , 63.89 MPG. Tank is at 345.1 miles , 58.68 MPG.
Tonight and tomorrow might I work out. That means I take Rte 53 (Rohlwing Rd )
straight to Planet Fitness in Naperville . From there it's ten miles to my house in Aurora.
This is the absolute shortest route home for me , at 31.9 miles. On the ten mile trip home , I can
add a few more MPG. I've also been practicing my DWL technique , to TRY to hold fcd 70-75 at around 42-44 MPH.
A lot of that route is 2-lane road , and I don't really want to pulse and glide there. If it slips into EV ,
I will glide a little , but try to get back to 75 MPG again. I'm still (always) learning.

Last night, detour #2, fairly slow and needed further detour to avoid some nasty roadworks, 2UP, 46°F, headwind E4:
    44.8 / 19.3

This morning, took shorter detour #2 reversed again but didn't need to detour traffic light section near work, frosty 35°F, tail/crosswind NE10:
    47.6 / 19.7

    Tank down 1.4 at 46.4 (FCD 48.9) / 86.9 / Range 575 . Guess gauge F««««|««««E . UG down 0.7 at 50.5 / DTE 596

I got a Maintenance Minder code of B13 showing up. Oil & filter change, and transmission fluid. I'm trying to figure if that last item applies to a manual transmission.

47.3 / 5.4 - home last night with a stop along the way.
    54.9 / 11.5 - this morning, damp humid 60F

Tank is down a tick to 53.5 / 484 mi.

My two manual Hondas owner's manuals were a bit vague about changing transmission fluid (oil ?). My old mechanic said "Doan wuurry bout it".
But I made him change it anyway at around 140K. Apparently it's pretty awkward to do it.

    Today m 42 deg F , no wind. 35.1 miles , 58.22 MPG. Tank is at 413.6 miles , 58.68 MPG.
I ended up taking the highway home yesterday because it was raining. I should have known that
it took about the same time as the scenic route when it's raining. But at least it was mostly pulse'n'glide.
Too bad I had to pay $.90 for that ride in addition to my fuel. Tonight , scenic route to PF , then to a lecture in
at Fermilab , then home around ten. It will be a long day. :)

If you can believe the mechanic brothers with the radio show out of Boston years ago, they think manual transmissions require more frequent fluid changes than the automatic transmissions.

I called it in and scheduled the service. They say transmission is due even for manual. Also going to fix my abs error.

Car Talk? Those guys were hilarious!

    Got gas over lunch.

53.6 mpg, right at what I was expecting.

I love to drive, to the mountains, deserts, beautiful valleys.... not so much into lots of traffic. But I did into lots of traffic today, as stated elsewhere, to pick up an unused spare tire, but cheap.

Woohoo! 48.8mpg for my week in Dallas, including the drag of freeway to and from Dallas. My second best tank ever.

Although I am going to have to file a complaint with the station I filled at. Pump showed a price of $2.399, and when I did the math, I actually paid 2.499. Jerks.

    Good job , James.
Today , 54 deg F , dry roads ( it rained most of the day Sunday).
Coming from Nicole's house in Naperville , my route (NOT the fast route )
    follows IL Rte 53 , which is 2 or 4 lanes , PSL 35-45.
    24.0 miles , 66.77 MPG. Tank is at 40.1 miles , 63.89 MPG.
    Filled up Saturday at the new Amoco station. 520.3 miles , fcd = 64.0 x .93 = 59.52 MPG.
Dividing gallons into miles = 520.3/8.487 = 61.30 MPG. Not sure which one I want to believe.
As always , I stop the pump after the 1st click. I did use the same pump as last time.
Price for E10 87 = $2.949. A few local stations spiked at $3.099 last week.

Scenic route # 2 home today and Tuesday , as I start my new workout schedule , which will be
Mon-Tues-Thur-Fri. , four days a week instead of three. If weather ( and mostly traffic ) permit ,
I will skip the stationary bike , get home earlier , and ride one of my non-stationary bikes for an hour.

    James! That's great!
Sounds like a good plan, Edwin!

I did a lot of running around this weekend, with passengers and sometimes in the rain. My new tank is at 48.6 / 42 mi.
