Our Salish Sea (Puget Sound) western Washington area has gotten hit recently by two snow storms, due to Arctic cold moving thru the Canadian mountains, into the Fraser Valley & spreading south. The first storm gave us a foot of snow with the most gentle & dry snowfall. This last storm gave us a few inches, while other regions got 8+ inches. Highway 101 on the Olympic Peninsula has been blocked. More directly affected by the Arctic cold & wind, Eastern Washington traffic on both I-90 & Highway 2 have been snow blocked. Predictions are for more to come. Me..... loaded up our cars with cheap Burlington gasoline & hope to wait out the predicted storms ahead.

Lots of ice on my car windows this morning. Roads were icy as well. I saw a lot of spinouts and other incidents on the way to work. One guy was blocking several lanes on I-355 after he spun out. Another went part-way thru a fence on 88 near 355. I left home plenty early , and went no faster than 45-50 on Interstates , and then ONLY when it was safe.
    32 deg F , freezing rain,sleet,snow , slush. Lotsa fun ! 35.2 miles , 47.52MPG. Tank is at 173.9 miles , 51.52 MPG.

    Pretty good for those conditions.

Aren't you glad you have decent tires for a change?

It hasn't snowed for 2-3days here, but temperatures aren't high enough to readily melt snow. Tho roads have been cleared, snow still covers the countrysides, roofs, & sidewalks. Went for a drive today, & several big maple trees had been brought down by rain-weighted snow. Numerous buildings have come down, also due to rain-weighted snow. Snow, piled up to clear driveways & walks, should remain for a week(s?). Saw a front yard big snow fort(?) (7-8feet tall by 10feet square) that may last longer, before melting, than the road-sides, piled with snow.

Today , snow. We got about 3" during the day yesterday and maybe1.5-2.0" more overnight. Since I leave
for work before the roads are plowed , I look for some tire tracks to follow. Sometimes I see tire tracks that
lead to a ditch occupied by an SUV or crossover. I don't follow those tracks. 24.1 miles , 47.5 MPG , ave speed 26.
Filled up yesterday on the way to Fermilab. I don't have the numbers in front of me , but it was actually over 50 MPG actual.

    Drive safely.
