Still in sunny Cyprus, going home tomorrow night.

Welcome back to the grind and the second monthly thread :D

The national average gas price is down 8.4¢ since last month at $2.793 - this time last year it was up to $2.505 so it's 28.8¢ dearer.
Diesel is up 7.0¢ at $3.280. It's 51.6¢ more expensive than this time last year.
    E85 is up to $2.373 - a year ago it was $2.116.

    No problem Edwin.

Back from holiday yesterday morning, set off home from airport at 01:30, fairly quiet at that time!, roadworks still on first section but no detour required and a 50mph PSL, mild 52°F, mostly tailwind S17:
    53.3 / 48.9

To work this morning, detoured traffic light section, misty, 46 rising to 51°F, crosswind N3:
    47.5 / 22.9

    Tank up 1.2 at 47.4 (FCD 50.0) / 500.9 / Range 135 . Guess gauge F____|_«««E . UG up 0.5 at 47.9 / DTE 146

    Lost 5th pip @ 430 miles

Nice to see FCD back up to 50 - it won't last!

    Today , 43 deg F , wind ENE 5-11 MPH. 15.4 miles , 66.77 MPG.
Tank is at 342.5 miles , 63.80 MPG. Could be worse. Will get worse , too. :)
I know my tires are down to 35 psi ( I checked one ). I must decide in the next day or two
about buying dedicated winter tires/wheels/sensors or just getting some new all-seasons put on the car.
My first few winters in this car with the OEM Yokohama's weren't so bad. The soft throttle response
( and traction control ) make it hard to spin the tires. But after my accident Dec 29 2017 , admittedly in
unusually bad conditions , and now with 74 K on those tires , I need to do something.

I need to see what Tire Rack offers for long-wearing winter tires. These tires might see 10,000 miles a year of winter use.

That's a pretty good tank during the transition period to cold weather. :)

Thanks. Still, remember I'm in Texas. The coldest we've seen is low 40's two days so far.

Nightmare going home last night, accidents, queues everywhere, bonfire night in UK, first day back at school for a lot of kids after a week off. After less than 5 miles of stop/start crawling traffic, I wasn't even out of the city and the FCD was showing a pretty horrendous 23.6mpgUS (28.4mpgUK) and an average speed of only 14mph, mild 51 dropping to 49°F, crosswind N3:
    36.6 / 21.4

To work this morning, detoured traffic light section again, misty, 52°F, cross/tailwind SSE6:
    48.2 / 23.0

    Tank down 0.5 at 46.9 (FCD 49.3) / 545.3 / Range 80 . Guess gauge F____|__««E . UG down 0.6 at 47.3 / DTE 94

    Lost 6th pip @ 504 miles

That was a big hit to a tank nearing empty last night..... :(

Ouch , Gord. Sometimes you win one, sometimes you........... don't.
Today , 48 deg F , wunderground tells me that the wind in Wood Dale ( 4 miles south of here )
is coming from ENE at 8-20 MPH. The flag on Brummel Street says it's SW. And so does my fcd.
    35.1 miles , 65.75 MPG. Tank is at 410.9 miles , 63.98 MPG.

Lunch, out to vote and fill up gas. Very convenient locations for both.

    50.2 / 2.7 - to vote
    42.5 / 0.4 - gas
    73.6 / 2.9 - back to work, warm start

Fillup: 590 mi, 11.38 gal = 51.8 mpg, slightly lower than scangauge predicted.

I voted on the way home yesterday. In and out in less than ten min , so I left car in ready mode.
    That trip was 35.4 miles , 58.78 MPG ( highway , strong W wind ). Today , 35 deg F , wind : I won't bother

reporting that anymore ,it changes a lot over 35 miles. 35.1 miles , 62.12 MPG. Tank is at 481.4 miles , 63.43 MPG

Bit better going home last night, detour #8, 56°F:
    42.3 / 23.1

To work this morning, it was going well until I hit a queue way before traffic light section so up and down a few junctions then crawling, heavy rain, 52°F:
    45.0 / 23.1

    Tank down 0.2 at 46.7 (FCD 49.1) / 591.5 / Range 25 . Guess gauge F____|___«E . UG down 0.1 at 47.2 / DTE 46

Low fuel light @ 559 miles

Back to awful going home last night :(, don't know why - clocks going back, dark nights, whatever but the traffic has been rubbish this week so far . Couldn't go detour #8 route due to motorway issues and more accidents so crawled up to detour #2 (including an up and down 3 junctions trick!), 50°F, crosswind S7:
    36.3 / 19.6

Rubbish photo but this is bypassing the stationary traffic to get to junction I actually wanted!

Dropped car pooler off at other end of his dead-end road and went to fill-up. Car kept 'pinging' at me to fill-up as it said I'd run out!
